About Business line/Function: The AML IT function sits within the BNP Paribas Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) CEFS‑technology ecosystem and provides end‑to‑end technology platform that enables the bank’s anti‑money‑laundering (AML) program. Its core purpose is to translate regulatory and compliance requirements into robust, scalable, and secure IT solutions that detect, investigate, and report suspicious activity across the Group’s global operations.

The AML IT business line is the technology backbone that transforms raw transaction data into actionable AML intelligence, ensuring that BNP Paribas CIB meets its regulatory obligations while maintaining operational resilience and innovation.

Position Purpose: The role centers on creating next‑generation AML capabilities and will be instrumental in protecting the BNPP Group from fraud, money‑laundering, and other financial crimes by using advanced technologies and innovative solutions.

As a Technical Architect for AIML, you will lead the transformation of the CEFS AML platform into a robust, scalable, cloud‑native architecture. This position is vital for shaping the technical vision, strategy, and execution of AML initiatives, thereby strengthening the organization’s overall risk management.

 While direct AML experience is not mandatory, strong architectural expertise and the ability to quickly master AML concepts are essential. The role will operate within a globally distributed environment.

Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities

• Lead and evolve the end-to-end technical architecture for AML platforms, including Python services, microservices, ML/AI components, data pipelines, asynchronous RESTful and GraphQL APIs, containerized using Docker and orchestrated with Kubernetes in cloud environments.
• Design and deliver production-ready Python solutions for large-scale AML systems, handling high-volume transactional data with focus on performance, scalability, security, and regulatory compliance.
• Define and enforce Python engineering standards, covering object-oriented design, modular codebases, reusable libraries, and consistent packaging practices.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of Python and ML systems, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, cloud deployments, and production support.
• Own the ML model lifecycle (MLOps) from experimentation to production, ensuring model versioning, development, monitoring, retraining, and governance using tools such as MLflow or equivalent.
• Remain hands-on when required, contributing to model development, feature engineering, experimentation, Python implementation, and production deployment.
• Collaborate across engineering, data science, and compliance teams, providing technical leadership, architectural guidance, and end-to-end ownership of AML solutions.

 Technical & Behavioral Competencies

• Strong Python engineering skills, including object-oriented design, modular code, packaging, and reusable, maintainable codebases, with awareness on secure coding, OAuth2/JWT, data privacy (GDPR/CCPA) and ability to write logging, metrics & tracing using ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry.
• Working Experience in handling large-scale transactional datasets, using Pandas, Dask, Polars, or similar distributed data processing frameworks.
• Hands-on ML/AI modeling experience, using scikit-learn, PyTorch, Keras, or TensorFlow, with an understanding of model metrics, performance, retraining, and model drift.
• Good experience in building Python microservices and APIs, using FastAPI, Flask, or Django, with async IO, Celery, Dockerization, and orchestration using Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge on SQL (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (Cassandra/Mongo)  / graph (Neo4j / JanusGraph) – modelling, indexing, performance tuning. 
• Strong delivery, CI/CD, and MLOps experience, including Git and Bitbucket workflows, MLflow or equivalent tools, and managing models from experimentation to production.
• Working knowledge of cloud and distributed systems, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, messaging and streaming platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ, and diverse data stores.
• Strong collaboration and learning mindset, with the ability to work across teams and geographies, adapt to new technologies, mentor others, and take end-to-end ownership.

Nice to have Skills: 

• Experience with other programming languages like Scala, especially in data processing or distributed system environments.
• Familiarity with AML‑specific tools like Actimize, Mantas, open‑source tools (SAR‑ML, OpenAML, custom rule engines), etc.
• Relevant cloud (AWS/Azure/Google), data, or ML/AI focused certifications demonstrating continuous learning
• Exposure to large scale data or streaming platforms such as Spark, Flink, or similar frameworks in high volume processing contexts.
