Job Title: Controller (Assistant Manager) 

Department: Wealth Management – Operations (Equity Option Derivatives)

About Business Line/Function 

The Wealth Management (WM) – Derivatives Operations team is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle management of Equity Derivatives. This includes processing complex trade types such as OTC Equity, Bonds, Index, Listed, and Exotic Options, as well as Swaps. The function is critical in ensuring trade accuracy, regulatory compliance, and seamless settlement processes to support the bank’s trading activities and client requirements.

Position Purpose: The Controller is responsible for the accurate processing and lifecycle management of derivative instruments. The role focuses on maintaining the integrity of bank and client positions, ensuring strict adherence to the operational permanent control framework, and managing the reconciliation of cash and securities. The Controller acts as a key liaison between dealers, counterparties, and the Front Office to resolve discrepancies and mitigate operational risk.

Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities

  • Execute the accurate and timely processing of OTC Equity, Bond, Index, Listed, and Exotic Options and Swap trades, ensuring continuity during public holidays.
  • Maintain and update trade data in the Olympic system to ensure both bank and client positions are accurately reflected.
  • Verify and authorize cash settlement instructions to Nostro banks, ensuring timely settlement and managing all related cash outflows.
  • Liaise actively with dealers, counterparties, and the Front Office to identify and resolve trade discrepancies promptly.
  • Review, sign, and manage transaction supplements, counterparty confirmations, and manual client advice; proactively monitor and follow up on non-receipt of confirmations.
  • Investigate and resolve Nostro and securities reconciliation breaks, including the pursuit of necessary interest claims.
  • Strictly adhere to internal procedures, control measures, and regulatory requirements. Monitor and report error trades to management and ensure the formal receipt of incident reports.
  • Ensure all spread charges remain within the monetary limits stipulated in the “Disclosure of Sales Related Information” and obtain formal management approval for any special waivers.
  • Review daily control reports, monitor late or failed trades, and provide regular updates to Management to mitigate operational impact.
  • Serve as a point of contact for queries from the Front Office, Advisory Desks, and counterparties to ensure smooth functional operations.
  • Systematically update and maintain the database worksheets for all option trades.

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

  • Contribute to the implementation of operational permanent control policies and procedures in day-to-day business activities.
  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system enhancements and support ad hoc projects as required by management.
  • Identify and contribute to workflow improvements to enhance operational efficiency and mitigate risk.

Specific Qualifications

  • Minimum 7–8 years of experience in Derivatives Operations or a similar control-oriented role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Management, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in Equity Derivatives or OTC markets is highly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of Equity, Bond, and Derivative products (Options/Swaps).
  • Proficiency in trade lifecycle management and settlement processes.
  • Strong understanding of reconciliation, Nostro management, and control frameworks.

Behavioral Skills

  • High level of meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for stakeholder management.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on risk mitigation and operational excellence.

Education Level: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
