About Business line/Function:

Global Markets (GM) IT Corporate Actions Development consists of approximately 50 people spread between London, New York, and India, developing software to support systems for Asset Servicing Operations Teams for Global Markets. Within the GM IT Corporate Actions Development, we operate a hybrid platform of Vendor and BNP suite of asset servicing applications.

Position Purpose

Purpose:  Test Architect for the Global Markets (GM) IT Corporate Actions Stream

 

Scope:  The role of Test Architect is embedded in the globally distributed IT Corporate Actions Stream, with Development Teams located globally.
 The remit of the role is to contribute to the design, development, and optimization of automated testing frameworks and strategies to ensure the delivery of high-quality software within the Global Markets IT Corporate Actions Stream. The engineer will work collaboratively with globally distributed teams to deliver robust, scalable, and secure software aligned with business needs and technical best practices.

 

Responsibilities

 

Direct Responsibilities

 

  • ·       Design and develop automated testing frameworks and strategies to ensure the delivery of high-quality software.
  • ·       Collaborate with software developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define test requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • ·       Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test suites for API, UI, performance, security, and integration testing.
  • ·       Implement best practices for test automation, continuous integration, and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
  • ·       Ensure comprehensive test coverage by designing and executing robust test plans and test cases.
  • ·       Proactively identify, document, and track software defects, working closely with development teams to resolve issues.
  • ·       Drive improvements in software quality by advocating for test-driven development (TDD) and behaviour-driven development (BDD).
  • ·       Conduct thorough regression testing and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) efforts.
  • ·       Monitor test execution, analyse results, and provide detailed reports on test outcomes and software quality.
  • ·       Research and implement new testing tools, methodologies, and best practices to improve test efficiency and effectiveness.

 

 

Contributing Responsibilities

 

  • Establish and enforce quality assurance standards, best practices, and guidelines within the development lifecycle.
  • Implement and advocate for SDLC best practices, emphasizing automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and low-touch deployments.
  • Mentor and coach software engineers on quality-first principles, including unit testing, integration testing, and automation strategies.
  • Work closely with DevOps and development teams to enhance testing capabilities and infrastructure.
  • Drive continuous improvements in test automation frameworks, tools, and methodologies to enhance overall testing efficiency.
  • Engage in risk analysis and mitigation planning to improve system reliability and stability.
  • Promote collaboration across teams to align testing strategies with business priorities and technical objectives.
  • Ensure appropriate collaboration with development and production support teams to improve overall software reliability and performance.

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

 

Essential

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on driving software quality improvements.
  • Extensive experience in software testing, automation, and quality assurance within Agile development environments.
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or C# for test automation.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright or TestNG.
  • Strong knowledge of API testing using tools like Postman, RestAssured, or Bruno.
  • Experience with performance testing using tools such as JMeter or k6.
  • Familiarity with database testing, including SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating test automation into Jenkins, GitHub Actions or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Knowledge of security testing principles, including basic vulnerability scanning and penetration testing.
  • Ability to work in distributed teams and collaborate effectively with in-house and offshore teams.

 

Preferred

  • Experience in building scalable test automation frameworks for microservices and cloud-based applications.
  • Proficiency in containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with contract testing frameworks such as contract testing frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of Shift Left Testing and implementing test automation at the early stages of the SDLC.
  • Exposure to observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus or Splunk to analyze test results and performance metrics.
  • Experience in solution architecture and design alongside ADR (architecture decision record) processes to manage software quality improvements.
