The Role

As the primary point of contact the UK CIO / Head of IT is critical to the continued development and growth of the UK business. They areThe role is responsible for implementing BNP Paribas Group IT strategy and delivering local business priorities and will provide experienced strategic leadership for the UK IT Department and the wider UK business.


The UK IT Department is composed of  a mix of permanent and contract staff with a wide range of skills and experience in delivering business solutions, operating production environments, supporting users and maintaining security. The Head of IT will lead this team in delivering business as usual excellence and promote ideas for the development of systems and the IT function and take responsibility for turning these ideas into tangible deliverables.


BNP Paribas Real Estate UK sits within the European Real Estate business, which in turn is supported by BNP Paribas’ global IT infrastructure. As a consequence, the UK CIO / Head of IT has a pivitol part to play in managing relationships with key stake holder across the BNP Paribas group and within the local business. Proven experience in building strong relationships and managing competing priorities within large and/or complex corporate environments is seen as essential for success.


Responsibilities 

    Collect business expectations (& support to clarify needs)

    Coordinate IT strategy & roadmap with business objectives. Establish a yearly business project roadmap and organize IT Budgets / resources / teams to deliver. 

    Pilot and report on IT UK Budget ( For local and central reporting)

    Coordinate local IT Projects : manage sourcing activity to deliver, report on status & progress (end to end follow-up), …

    Organize User Application Support activities 

    Take local responsibility IT Risk & Cybersecurity with Paris central teams (including the implementation of the Cyber program locally)   

    Ensure BNPP Architecture principals are respected (Coordinating with Paris architecture team) 

    Oversee IT procurement for the business

    Oversee of IT related projects and associated spend

    Develop and deliver IT business plans

    Deliver a consistent an excellent service to the business

    Continue to monitor market best-practice and advise the business accordingly

    Provide effective and accurate advice and guidance to managers in order to maximise their output

    Establish strong working relationships between the IT team, the business and group

    Monitor the IT service to the business via regular reviews and promptly rectify any shortfall in quality

    Encourage innovative practices and thinking to support the delivery of an industry leading service

    Constantly monitor and improve departmental systems, processes, controls and procedures

    Manage the evolution of IT products in the business 

    Review and sign-off on procedures, process and audit

    Manage change effectively in order to improve quality and profitability of the service

    Develop a network of contacts externally and within the business and manage those relationships proactively

    Constantly manage and monitor the quality of data across the main applications at BNPPRE

Essential Skills

    Qualifying IT or business-related degree

    Problem solving and crisis management 

    Capability to understand business expectation and process   

    Facilitation

    Good communication (oral and written) 

    Project or program Management

    Team Management

    IT general skills (development, systems and network, …)

    IT methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Kanban, ITIL, …)

    French as second language (useful)


Essential Experience

    Significative experiences in IT Business programs or projects with direct exposure to business sponsors and clients     

    Substantial IT background with various IT experiences, skills and competences (IT development, IT production and IT program management, …)  

    Extensive managerial experience (Including management of managers)

    Experience in IT risk management

    Familiarity with IT in large and complex corporate environments 

    Strong market profile as both a leader and expert in specialist field

    Strong technical IT background with considerable experience working in commercial IT departments

    Proven track record of successfully building and delivering a complete IT service

    Experienced at operating with senior managers to executive level

    Experienced in budget, business planning and monitoring

    Confident and experienced user of the Microsoft Office suite
