Overview of the opportunity

Advisory Americas delivers advisory services for mergers and acquisitions, primary and secondary equity capital markets transactions as well as equity private placements. The team operates across the Americas, with over 80 bankers in offices including New York, San Francisco, Mexico City, Bogota, São Paulo, and Santiago de Chile. 

The Latin America Advisory team is based in New York and in Latin America, organized geographically along four regions: Mexico, Brazil, Andean Region and Southern Cone, and covers all industries, with a particular sector focus on Energy, Renewables & Infrastructure, TMT, Financial Institutions, and Industrials. BNP Paribas Advisory Americas is a leading M&A advisor in Latin America, commanding top M&A league table positions in several key markets in the region. 

The Santiago-based team is seeking an Analyst with 2 years of experience in investment banking to join the team. The candidate will support the executions of transactions and business development efforts across Chile, Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Ecuador.

Main responsibilities

  • Assist in the marketing and execution of M&A transactions in accordance with BNP Paribas’ standards and processes
  • Perform industry and company specific research, and strategic analyses 
  • Maintain up-to-date BNP Paribas’ proprietary analysis of comparable sector benchmarks as well as precedent transactions’ analysis form that integrates into BNP Paribas’ global sector valuation tool template
  • Build and regularly update mapping of all relevant market players (incumbents, strategics, financial investors) across BNP Paribas sector verticals of expertise in the Southern Cone
  • Participate in the preparation of pitches and marketing materials 
  • Perform financial analysis, including detailed economic assessment of past performance – margins & profitability analysis, investment strategy, liquidity & cash flows, ROCE & ROI analysis – and build detailed financial models presenting comprehensive and fully functioning financial statements
  • Perform business valuations utilizing the discounted cash flow valuation methodologies as well as public market and transaction
  • Provide general support to the team as requested

Minimum qualifications

  • Degree in Business Administration, Economics or Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience working in investment banking with specific experience in M&A 
  • Demonstrated record of academic excellence
  • Strong data management and research skills
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Financial modelling capabilities 
  • Detail oriented and reliable with a complete focus on quality results/deliverables
  • Working proficiency in English and Spanish, both verbal and written
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
