Business Overview:

Latin America region is a key market for BNP Paribas. While Brazil remains the largest economy in Latin America, other major countries in the region are significant contributors for the business and for long standing relations with clients. For example, BNP Paribas has been uninterruptedly present in Colombia for more than 40 years.

 

BNP Paribas has had a historical footprint in Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Peru and Argentina (“Hispanic Latin America”). The Bank has been in the region since 1914 and has nearly 2000 employees between Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) and International Financial Services.

 

CIB in Hispanic Latin America has world-class teams of roughly 200 professionals, thus ensuring an overall coverage of BNP Paribas’ client franchise in the region. All BNP Paribas’ business lines have operations in Hispanic Latin America and are structured in such a way as to provide their clients with the best combination of specialists according to sector, product or geographic region. In the context of growing globalization, they are able to accommodate their clients thanks to their powerful regional platforms:

In Colombia, BNP Paribas has presence through 4 entities and two Rep Offices representing the Group: the BNP Paribas S.A. Rep. Office, the Corporación Financiera and BNP Paribas Securities Services Sociedad Fiduciaria for the Corporate and Institutional Banking pole. As for International Financing Services, an insurance company (Cardif), a renting company (Arval) and a Rep Office for Asset Management.  

 

Job Purpose

The Legal Analyst will serve as a key support resource for BNPParibasCIB Colombia’s Legal Department, providing comprehensive assistance on regulatory, transactional, and administrative matters.The role is designed to give the analyst handson exposure to commercial, banking and corporate law within a global financial institution, while ensuring that the bank’s governance, compliance and operational activities are executed accurately, timely, and in full accordance with Colombian regulation and internalrequirements.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draft minutes for the Audit Committee, Board of Directors, and Shareholders’ Meeting; prepare the initial draft of the accompanying presentation, organize supporting documentation, and file the signed minutes in the official book.
  • Assist the legal team in responding to external auditors and internal‑group (IG) requests, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of requested information.
  • Perform routine controls related to the legal area, monitoring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Prepare initial drafts of responses to formal requests from local regulators; coordinate with relevant stakeholders to guarantee that all filings are submitted on schedule.
  • Review third‑party agreements with vendors, identifying risks and recommending necessary amendments.
  • Support senior lawyers in negotiating and drafting transactional documents.
  • Update the regulatory‑watch dashboard on a regular basis; draft concise summaries of pertinent regulations for inclusion in the legal brief.
  • Translate legal documents and regulatory alerts between Spanish and English, maintaining accuracy and appropriate legal terminology.
  • Prepare first‑draft replies to constitutional claims (tutelas), requests for information (derechos de petición), and judicial seizure requests, escalating to senior counsel when needed.
  • Provide legal support to business lines on transactions involving Colombian law, conducting legal research, issue‑spotting, and drafting relevant memoranda.
  • Address day‑to‑day legal matters affecting BNPParibas CIB Colombia’s operations, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external legal requirements.
  • Participate in ad‑hoc projects, process‑improvement initiatives, and other activities as assigned by the legal team.

 

Qualifications

  • Law Student who has finalized their studies or has just graduated. 
  • Interest in financial, banking and corporate law.
  • Bilingual (English – Spanish).
