Position Purpose

The analyst will be a part of the ISPL Mumbai – FAR-CRR (Financial Accounting Reporting & Credit Risk Reporting) projects team.  The Business analyst will primarily work on Accounting / Financial Reporting / Credit Risk reporting Projects.  In addition, the analyst will also perform business analysis for different Accounting Platforms & Finance systems.

Responsibilities

 

Direct Responsibilities

 

  • Understanding data sources, composition, rules of reporting required by different applications and ensuring data completeness & accuracy.
  • Creating a detailed business analysis, outlining problems, opportunities, and solutions for a business.
  • Ensuring that data is seamlessly available for head office reporting purposes. This involves tracing data, extracting, transformation, analysis, and enrichment.     
  • Reconciling data sets & trace data evolution through complex transformation processes.
  • The role involves performing root cause analysis on CHANGE the BANK and RUN the BANK issues.
  • Preparing functional specifications, proof of concepts, test cases for reports and enhancements in the General Ledger platforms, Finance systems and Risk System.
  • Create and establish processes and handoffs between different global & local teams.
  • Lead or participate in multiple evolutions & projects, updating project documentation; managing project scope; adjusting schedules when necessary; determining daily priorities; ensuring efficient and on-time delivery of project tasks and milestones.
  • Liaise between Operations and IT to assist or gather business requirements needed for system modifications, enhancement, and implementations.

Preparing status reports, communication broadcasts, and process reengineering, identifying automation & efficiency initiatives.

 

 

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

Data Analyst

  • Ability to source, transform and analyze large data sets.
  • Experience in reconciliations and tracing data elements through transformation processes is critical.
  • Ability to identify issues, develop solutions, manage short term and permanent fixes.
  • Record experiences and develop operating procedures.

 

Business Analytical skills 

  • Eliciting user requirements and transforming them to functional specifications/Change requirements.
  • Preparing business test cases.
  • Liaising with development team on the production queries & enhancements.
  • Managing testing and deployment.
  • Experience with software development life cycle & implementation
  • Develop processes combining applications & people interactions.
  • Experience in interacting with global stakeholders and independently managing discussions.
  • Accounting and Finance concepts and awareness of Credit Risk, IFRS reporting concepts, Finance head-office reporting processes will be value add.

 

Technical Skills

  • Ability to work with large data sets in MS Excel and corresponding tools and formulae like pivots, lookups etc.
  • Ability to use data processing tools for data transformation.
  • Basic SQL Skills required.
  • MS Access & VBA skills are preferable.

  • Conduct meetings with global stakeholders, prepare minutes & summaries.

Specific Qualifications: Business analyst needs to have very good functional skills, basic knowledge of SQL and overview of finance application, ledgers and reporting ecosystems.
