The position at a glance
BNP Paribas has combined the deep market knowledge of its Securities Services franchise with the trading expertise of Global Markets to create a unified Derivatives Execution & Clearing platform. This end‑to‑end, cross‑asset solution enables clients to execute and clear derivative transactions—both over‑the‑counter (OTC) and exchange‑traded—on equities, fixed‑income securities, and commodities. Thanks to a direct presence on most global exchanges and clearing houses, the offering provides a truly global service scope, ensuring seamless access to all major markets as well as a complete suite of clearing, settlement, and post‑trade functions.
The role supports this integrated operation, helping clients manage multi‑asset derivative workflows while leveraging BNP Paribas’s worldwide network and expertise.
In detail
- Provide day to day support for the DEC Clearing business, operations, and client services groups.
- Maintain and support client environments built on the UBIX architecture within a global team.
- Monitor production alerts, Triage, investigate, and resolve incidents within defined SLAs. Escalate complex issues to development, infrastructure, or third party vendors while keeping stakeholders informed.
- Perform new installations, apply upgrades, and deliver project work for assigned accounts.
- Act as the primary liaison between the business, development, Business Analysts, and FIS (the vendor), ensuring smooth coordination.
- Acquire deep knowledge of UBIX applications,
- Conduct post incident reviews to identify underlying causes, deliver interim solutions, when possible, Document corrective actions and preventive measures
- Produce technical specifications, functional flow diagrams, and procedural documentation.
- Review, schedule, and validate production ready changes (patches, upgrades, configuration changes). Identify potential risks and issues, and support their mitigation to keep project milestones on track. Perform production deployments and post release verification. Guarantees that modifications do not disrupt market critical functions and comply with internal governance and regulator mandated change control policies.
- Liaise with external software providers, outsourcers for issue resolution and patch management.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks that could affect production stability
- Contribute to Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) testing for the supported applications
- Participate in retrospectives, suggest tooling enhancements (e.g., automation, monitoring, incident response). Stay current on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and security threats.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a cross functional team, contributing actively and supporting colleagues to achieve shared goals.
Work conditions:
- Standard office environment with a regular Monday to Friday schedule.
- Hybrid model of 2 remote days / 3 on site days.
- Core working hours: 09:00 – 17:00 EST.
- Late shift coverage - rotational: 12:00 – 21:00 EST.
- Additional remote hours may be needed outside regular business hours to support critical activities.
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
- A recognized Bachelor’s degree (or the international equivalent) from an accredited university or college.
- Professional working proficiency in English language is required
- Minimum 5 years of hands on support experience with a middle office or back office platform in a financial services environment.
- UBIX application expertise – Strong functional and technical understanding of the UBIX platform.
- Financial market awareness – Knowledge of, or interest in, major market venues and clearing houses (CME Group, ICE, EUREX, OCC, SGX, etc.).
- Monitoring & Incident Management tools – Experience with Grafana, Nagios, Geneos, Dynatrace, ServiceNow, JIRA, and Git.
- Operating system & database fundamentals – Hands on knowledge of Linux/Windows servers and relational databases such as Oracle, DB2, PostgreSQL.
- Middleware – Familiarity with IBM WebSphere MQ (MQ Series) and network technologies used to support it.
- Scripting & automation – Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Perl, Python, JavaScript, REXX, or VBScript.
- SQL & data analysis – Demonstrated ability to write and execute complex queries on large data sets; experience with Oracle, Sybase, and SQL Server.
- Troubleshooting & configuration – Practical experience with MQ Series, network connectivity, FIX/FIXML/FPML protocols, Citrix, and related middleware.
- Communication – Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to convey technical concepts to both technical and non technical audiences.
- Organization & workload management – Highly organized, able to prioritize and manage a heavy workload in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
