Job Title: Actuarial Internship 2026

Business Unit:  Insurance / Ireland / Greenval 

Contract Type: 12 months Internship (possibly extendable to 15 months) / Hybrid

Role

Greenval Insurance DAC (www.greenval-insurance.com) is a non-life insurance company and member of BNP Paribas (www.bnpparibas.com), a European leader in banking and financial services that ranks among the world's top 15 banks by market capitalisation. Greenval Insurance offers motor insurance to the customers of other Group members in 20 countries with a target to extend to all EU countries in the coming years.

Following a recent analysis of all activities undertaken by the staff of the company, an intern position with the Actuarial Department has been created effective from January 2024. The successful candidate will report to the Actuarial Manager and will be responsible for providing actuarial input into the management and development of Greenval Insurance, to ensure the assessment and management of risk, and to support the development of new products.

The successful candidate will experience working in a small fast-paced Actuarial team, gaining exposure to all aspects of Actuarial work including; reserving, pricing, IFRS 17, Solvency II, data science, along with developing softer skills such as the ability to interact and present to other teams/stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the team in investigating premium & claims data and ensuring data accuracy;
  • Assisting the team with using Actuarial models to arrive at best estimate reserves;
  • Analysing and consolidating data in SAS;
  • Assisting with pricing projects as they appear;
  • Utilising their creative ability, helping with process automation and process presentation;
  • Supporting other department members where necessary;
  • Supporting other departments as required.

The successful candidate will also gain exposure to all aspects of an insurance company, including Underwriting, Claims Handling and Finance.


Qualifications & Experience required for this role

  • High level in mathematics;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Flexible attitude and proactive approach;
  • Strong results and client driven approach; and
  • A team player who can also work independently.
  • Innovative use of computer software packages;
  • Excellent use of Excel;
  • Strong capacity to adapt in a multicultural environment; and
  • Knowledge of several European Languages is an asset but not required.


Financial Security

  • Knowledge: Staff must have a clear understanding of BNPP Group policies and requirements, and their own obligations under these standards.  This includes ensuring that they understand the regulatory and Group requirements in relation to Financial Security, both at a general level and specifically related to their role.  Financial Security related matters include those connected to: anti-money laundering (AML); countering the financing of terrorism (CFT); international financial sanctions and embargoes (IFS); anti-bribery and corruption (ABC); KYC; ongoing client related data screening; and transaction monitoring.
  • Policies & Controls: Staff must adhere to the Group’s Financial Security policies and local laws; ensuring that appropriate controls are in place to manage Financial Security related processes and risk (including in regard to customer due diligence and how they use the Group’s products and services; and a maintaining a satisfactory understanding of transaction activity).
  • Vigilance & Reporting: Staff must be vigilant to unusual or suspicious activity; and duly report or escalate to senior management or Compliance as appropriate.  Activity referred to, may concern customers, counterparties, staff or other third parties.  Staff must escalate known or suspected concerns relating to potential or actual: money laundering; terrorist financing; bribery or corruption; sanctions breaches or attempts to circumvent the sanctions regime; or any other wrongdoing (including fraud or theft).


Compliance Culture
