About the job

  • The Labour Law Counsel will be directly working with the Senior Labour Law Counsel to provide labour-related legal assistance in day-to-day work to the Human Resources Department and to business areas as may be required
  • The position exists for someone with expertise in Labour Law

 

Your Main Activities Are

  • Provide legal support to the Human Resources team related to Portuguese labour law matters
  • Review and draft labour contracts and addenda and all legal documentation applied in the Human Resources’ Department
  • Prepare, review and/or update internal regulations and policies, as required
  • Render effective legal assistance in the preparation and issuance of legal opinions, studies, reports and correspondence, as may be required
  • Follow up and take part in meetings with Employees Workers’ Councils (“Comissão de Trabalhadores”) and Banking Trade Unions
  • Accompany Human Resources’ Business Partners in individual meetings with employees, whenever required
  • Analyse claims and grievances and, if applicable, prepare all legal documentation required to disciplinarily sanction employees for behavioural and/or professional misconducts

 

Profile and Skills to Success

  • Law Degree obtained in a Portuguese University
  • Admission to the Portuguese Bar Association
  • Between 4 and 7 years of experience in Portuguese Labour Law is required
  • Fluency in English (mandatory)
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience and ability to advise in matters related to labour law, including litigation cases
  • Good interpersonal skills enabling an efficient and collaborative work with internal and external clients/providers
  • Strong communication skills are required, with an excellent level of written communication
  • Ability to obtain results when conflicting interests are at play, achieving targeted outcomes
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Solution-driven and decision-making aptitudes, focus on results and high performance
  • Strong work ethics and culture fit with Human Resources (collaborative spirit, interest in people issues, sense of confidentiality)
