Business Overview


Transaction Banking division provides solutions to improve and optimize the working capital of financial institutions and corporate clients worldwide. This division encompasses four different businesses operating as a strategic unit to address core client needs:

  • Liquidity & Investment Advisory (LIA) is a product line responsible for increasing deposit volume and quality, by offering a full product continuum and a superior liquidity advisory service for the CIB corporate client base.
  • International Cash Management provides solutions that enable our clients to manage and optimize their cash flows and liquidity worldwide by leveraging the BNP Paribas global network.
  • Transaction Solutions for Banks supports the BNP Paribas global network and provides third-party financial institutions worldwide with comprehensive services to meet their domestic clients’ international payment and trade needs.
  • Global Trade Solutions is to provide clients with services and tailored solutions to mitigate risk in trade transactions, propose financing and optimize working capital management. The two main product lines are Traditional Trade and Supply Chain Finance.

 

The position at a glance

 

On a day-to-day basis the Associate will work closely with the GTS Trade Managers supporting their Sales activities in the region primarily in Canada but also from time to time in support to the Americas regional portfolio and will provide support mostly in structuring transactions, credit process and execution of transactions.


 

In detail

 

The team members are responsible of the following activities:


Reports functionally to the Head (or Deputy) of Structuring for GTS Americas and locally to the GTS Director. On a day-to-day basis the person will work closely with the GTS Trade Managers supporting their Sales activities, mostly in Canada but also in the region.  The Associate will provide support in the following areas:
  • Marketing support: Liaise with Coverage under the supervision of the Marketer; Contribute to product development initiatives, identification of incremental sales opportunities, preparation of sector/client strategic plans, pitches, working capital analysis, research / analysis of market trends within the trade finance industry. 
  • Transaction structuring support: draft term sheets in conjunction with Trade Managers and internal/external lawyers, propose / assess transaction features and collateral packages, engage with lawyers and other involved functions.
  • Run pricing / capital consumption models at transaction level
  • Credit: prepare RWA (assets) return metrics for management’s green-light, write transaction support memo, manage the GTS interaction during the credit process jointly with the relevant Coverage team, and interact with Senior Credit Officers and Credit delegation holders to explain transactions as necessary. 
  • Execution: Co-ordinate to include all transaction execution tasks, i.e.negotiation of final legal documentation in conjunction with Marketers and Legal; : liaise with Functions, Middle and Back Office to establish Modus Operandi with a view to anticipate and achieve smooth, detailed transaction closing and execution; follow through on ensuring pre-disbursement conditions are met, including pre-closing memo.
  • Portfolio Management: Liaise with relevant functions to produce tools to monitor performance and risk indicators for all GTS-Americas portfolio activity across the region. Contribute to portfolio reviews.
  • Client interaction:  the role will involve interaction with clients notably in the transaction execution phase. 


Work conditions: This position provides for standard working conditions in an office and a normal work schedule from Monday to Friday. This position requires little travel.

 

 

 

The strengths and skills that will help you succeed

 

  • Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Knowledge of English is required. French is a strong advantage.
  • 4 years of relevant professional experience
  • Master’s degree 
  • Organizationally aware and adaptive to BNPP strategy 
  • Preferably knowledge of Corporate Working Capital solutions
  • Demonstrates  general knowledge of the Canadian corporate market
  • Structuring (Credit, Risk, Legal, Accounting, Detail): Sound, inquisitive/knowledge based and disciplined
