Job Title: Assistant Vice President (AVP)
Department: Subject Matter Streams
About Business line/Function: The Subject Matter Stream is primarily responsible for month‑end closing, oversight and control of day‑to‑day transactions, Cost of Risk bookings, operations and activities, and recording revenue from Global Banking and Financing activities.
Position Purpose: Financial Accountants are responsible for the daily upkeep and control of the general ledgers for their assigned entities, whether linked to specific products or broader, cross‑functional areas. When required, they coordinate with other teams to review and implement potential adjustments. They also guarantee data quality across all reporting streams and execute any necessary ledger adjustments.
Responsibilities
The Banking Products team oversees all financial matters associated with customers’ banking products, including credit & cost‑of‑risk, payments, deposits, securities, fees, provisions, sundry accounts, and related items.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and reconcile accounting adjustments to guarantee completeness and accuracy across all reporting dimensions, including segmented reporting.
- Perform calculations, bookings, and integrity checks for IFRS 9 impairment.
- Manage cost‑of‑risk processing.
- Supervise accounting controls executed by Banking Products Operations, reviewing monthly control outcomes and quarterly sub‑certifications.
- Control and analyse data feeding regulatory reporting (e.g., Matisse allocations, BMRC inputs, Accounting‑to‑Risk reconciliations, local regulatory reports, non‑standard feeds) and support disclosure production.
- Provide accounting support to Back‑Office and Middle‑Office teams.
- Convert accounting data into management‑accounting figures (profitability and cost allocation by Business Line) in line with MARP (Management Accounting Rules and Principles).
- Assist management in addressing queries from external auditors, Operations, and other support groups by:
- Ensuring timely resolution and follow‑up of questions or information requests.
- Escalating issues to the team leader or head of department as necessary.
Contributing Responsibilities - Projects, Systems Support, Operational Process Improvements
- Take part in upgrades User acceptance testing and new‑release implementation of the relevant reporting tools.
- Help pinpoint and implement operational improvements in production, control procedures, and workflow design to boost team efficiency and effectiveness.
- Always adhere to the bank’s policies and procedures.
- Support special projects or ad‑hoc requests as assigned by management.
Technical & Behavioral Competencies
- Knowledge of Banking products is desirable
- Working knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles in IFRS and French GAAP (an asset)
- IFRS9 impairment calculation knowledge is must
- High proficiency in computer skills and data analytics
- Up to 10 years’ experience in Finance within the Banking sector (Financial Accounting, Reporting, Business/financial analysis), including audit and consultancy firms
- Experience of working in an international environment appreciated
Specific Qualifications:
ACA with minimum 7 years of experience
Skills Referential (Required knowledge, skills and abilities)
Technical Skills:
- Business Objects
- Advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF, etc.)
- Programming knowledge (a plus)
- IFRS & French GAAP accounting principles
