SUMMARY OF THE ROLE – EVENT MANAGER LEAD CIB

Defining, managing and executing the events & sponsorship strategy for BNP Paribas CIB the Netherlands across the following areas: client events, internal events, sponsorships and corporate hospitality. Collaborate with the ten BNP Paribas entities in the Netherlands, Marketing & Communications (both CIB and the MarCom workstream) and peers in other countries, among others, on the strategic plan where the event strategy needs to become an integral part of the bigger picture of our Dutch Growth Plan. This role is both strategic and operational, for which the ability to work closely with Senior Management, other functions and the Front Office is critical.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build a strategic annual planning process for BNP Paribas CIB events including a clearly defined year plan framework, timelines and sign off responsibilities.
  • Manage our events from incubation to briefing to execution: entity wide internal events and CIB client events with a deep understanding of stakeholders objectives is required and should translate into creative appropriate proposals.
  • Sort (external) event proposals to identify which ones are relevant to address business objectives and ensure team coordination to optimize Group branding impact and costs.
  • Strategically monitor key trends in events to ensure highest quality levels in terms of ideas and delivery (virtual, in-person, and hybrid).
  • Develop annual planning and event budget, working with the Head of Marketing & Communications, the Marketing & Communications team, internal networks like MixCity and Next BNP Paribas, HR, the office of the NL CEO and local front officers in the planning process, enforcing added value business content in addition to pure entertainment. Identifying scale of economies when multiple Dutch BNP Paribas entities participate in an event.
  • Develop, maintain, upgrade and ensure the use of critical events tools (including approvals, registration, calendar planning).
  • Ensure post-event quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Create publicity around our events in cooperation with BNP Paribas CIB content responsible staff.
  • Act as the central point of contact for our (event)stakeholders within the BNP Paribas CIB & the NL organization.
  • Plugging our expert talking heads and experts (management profiling) in on- and offline events as an integral part of the event strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a (internal and external) network of organizers of events relevant to BNP Paribas.
  • Create step-by-step guidelines when planning and executing different types of events and make this accessible for all the entities in NL as a guiding principle.
  • Ensure high business, sustainability & ethical standards in implementation and delivery of events.
  • Closely collaborate with Communications & Social Media managers and other events regional platforms: relaying event strategy and planning, exchanging best practices and ideas, etc.
  • Assess and advise on requests for sponsorships, sponsorship activations of BNP Paribas, participation to third party events and negotiate package deals. Maintaining and overseeing existing sponsorships/partnerships including strict budgeting review and database maintenance, managing sponsorship contracts and activities to ensure maximum brand visibility/recognition and activation levels.

THE MARCOM TEAM
The Marketing & Communications team manages the internal and external engagement but also the Sustainability Strategy to position BNP Paribas as the leading international bank in the Netherlands. Through external engagement, internal engagement and Sustainability, CSR & sponsorship programs, we strengthen the European leadership of BNP Paribas.

Based on the international marketing & communication strategy, we draft and execute the local plan. In addition, we are responsible for the alignment of the marketing and communication activities of the Dutch BNP Paribas Group entities with the international guidelines and local business strategy, safeguarding and strengthening the reputation of the Group. You will work in the team of Dagmar van der Plas.

YOUR TALENTS

Customer orientation, strategic thinking, networking and a focus on results are indispensable for this position. In addition, it is important that you recognize yourself in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years work experience in (event/relationship) marketing, preferably in a diverse matrix organization.
  • Strong strategical, tactical and conceptual skills.
  • Can handle freedom and is used to be fully responsible for delivering first time fabulous events.
  • Strong negotiation skills, planning and working in a project-oriented way, ability to work under pressure.
  • Passionate about events, with strong project management, data management and event budget management skills / Eye for detail - methodical approach to work and creativity.
  • Strong network in the event industry - well aware of vendors and venues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to mobilize people and (internal) stakeholders (especially at the (senior) management level) on different levels.
  • General knowledge of the banking industry and global financial markets preferred.
  • Language proficiency in English and Dutch is required.
