Business area
In the UK, Global Banking focuses on 4 main business areas: Corporate Clients Group, Capital Markets, Low Carbon Transition Group and Transaction Banking.
This role sits within Capital Markets, which is a platform designed to provide a fully integrated offer across debt and equity, and work closer with its issuer and investor clients.
Real Estate Finance within CIB Capital Markets EMEA is responsible for the coverage of large listed REITS or other investment vehicles and major real estate funds and asset managers. The team promotes all products delivered by BNP Paribas and cross-selling essentially with Global Markets, ECM, Corporate Finance, Cash Management & Deposits, BNP Paribas Real Estate, and Securities Services. They are also responsible for the structuring of real estate specialised financing, their execution and distribution for clients, like PE Funds and Asset Managers for example, under REF’s coverage or under the coverage of other areas of the bank.
Job purpose
As an Analyst, the role holder will be accountable for providing support to more senior team members on routine marketing, executing, and regulation activities of commercial real estate financings (asset-backed and/or corporate) and coverage of institutional real estate clients.
Key responsibilities
- Supports intermediate and senior team members within Real Estate Financing UK as instructed in relation to routine marketing, executing, and regulation activities including the preparation of presentations, pitches and financial analysis.
- Applies basic knowledge of standardised rules, procedures, and operations within relevant area within Global Banking to all tasks, and is accountable for assisting to ensure that all marketing and execution materials and processes meet high standards of quality and reliability.
- Interacts with internal parties in both marketing and execution under supervision to drive effective delivery of all tasks.
- Performs background industry and company research, consolidating information from diverse sources. Tracks developments on matters related to Real Estate Financing UK to stay up-to-date with latest market practice.
- Works under own initiative, but with readily available supervision and guidance, to prioritise their workload as required to support the team and achieve their personal development and growth objectives within agreed timescales.
- Collaborates with team members and offers creative solutions to problems. Develops skills in communicating concepts and interacting with others.
- Builds internal working relationships with Global Banking colleagues and more senior team members to increase knowledge of Real Estate Financing UK and its role in supporting and delivering to clients.
Requirements
- Professional qualification required with technical and broad understanding at an entry level of Real Estate Financing UK. Previous relevant internship / work experience desirable.
- Typically requires a university degree with an excellent academic record as an indicator of an ability to understand and apply complex theoretical concepts, although may have progressed into the role via equivalent business experience.
- An analytical mindset and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- A developing knowledge of BNPP, the industry, and its products / services, with a demonstrable capacity and willingness to develop market awareness autonomously and to learn and improve performance.
- A strong personal focus on accuracy and attention to detail and able to prioritise workload based on shifting business needs.
- Good written and oral language skills.
- Skilled in the use of a range of standard computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office, email), as well as capacity to learn the use of investment banking related investment banking databases (e.g. Factset, Dealogic, Bloomberg).
- Good citizen behaviour, embody and practice the Group values (alignment with the Bank’s strategy, commitment, work ethics, integrity, Code of Conduct). Ability to operate within the Compliance framework imposed by the Bank and external regulators
