Job Title: Full stack Java Developer

Department: BNP Paribas Fortis, CBPS

About Business line/Function: BNP Paribas Fortis is one of the largest payment processors in Europe. New and existing IT technologies are being developed and maintained for different tribes in Brussels following the agile methodology.  Our teams work in multi-cultural and empowered squads who deliver new functionalities and enhancements on a frequent basis.   

The mission of the Tribe TCF is to grow as a reliable and cost-efficient  service provider for customers of BNP Paribas Group worldwide, whilst implementing innovative technologies and transversal products.

Position Purpose: In this role you will be part of an international, multi-functional squad with colleagues in Chennai and Belgium.  The squad is responsible for the development and maintenance of a key application of BNP Paribas Group.  It works in an agile mode with daily huddles and frequent production releases, whilst maintaining high quality standards.

The squad is part of Tribe TCF with its main management in Belgium at BNP Paribas Fortis, a sister company of ISPL

Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities

 
  • You will be working on converting legacy ASP .NET to JAVA with an aim of deploying on the  cloud 
  • You help the Chapter Lead in defining the conversion strategy / industrialization roadmap and provide robust and reliable estimation for work packages to develop (cost, schedule) and assessment of technical risks
  • You develop and unit test Java-based software components
  • You participate, peer and engineering reviews and resolution of code vulnerabilities
  • You participate in higher-level testing (integration, verification, validation)
  • You implement test automation and documentation
  • You coordinate and debug the resolution of technical issues and analyze root cause of problems
  • You actively help the Chapter Lead in defining the technological and organizational orientations for the department, and play a key role in the technology watch process (identify, evaluate and recommend new technologies/processes/tools)

  • Specific Qualifications:
  • You have a bachelor or master degree in IT and at least 8 years of experience
  • Fluent English is mandatory (oral and written)

Skills Referential (Required knowledge, skills and abilities)

Technical Skills:

 React

§  Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS

§  Familiarity with Storybook v9, including interaction testing in Storybook

§  Proficiency in Jest v29 or vitest v4

§  Knowledge of Tanstack Query v5

§  Knowledge of Zustand v5

§  Good knowledge of the rules of React hooks

§  Knowledge of React Hook Form v7 is a plus

§  Familiarity with i18n is a plus

 JAVA

§  Knowledge of Spring Boot 3 or more recent.

§  Knowledge of micro-service design principles

§  Proficiency with Java 21 or more recent.

§  Knowledge of relational databases in general, PostgreSQL in particular.

§  Familiarity with Liquibase v4

§  Familiarity with the design and maintenance of REST APIs

§  Knowledge of JUnit 5

§  Knowledge of business rule management systems - Drool


Knowledge in the following technologies is a plus:

  • Basic understanding of Docker is a plus
  • Basic understanding of Nexus
  • Familiarity with NexusIQ, Fortify, SonarQube
  • Knowledge of Git (knowledge of Gitlab specifically is a plus)
  • Basic familiarity with Jenkins and Gitlab CI for CI/CD
  • Familiarity with Cucumber and Gherkin syntax
  • Some familiarity with VBScript
  • Familiarity with Dynatrace is a plus

Familiarity with AI tools for development

  •   Agile and Scrum experience
