About the job

 

Present in Lisbon and Porto the Global Markets Operational and Permanent Control (GM OPC) teams works to safeguard business operations by identifying risks, analyzing past incidents, and strengthening controls. We work closely with traders, managers, and risk teams to build reports, track key risk indicators, and drive continuous improvement—all the while ensuring compliance with global standards.

 

Your Main Activities Are

 

1. Risk Analysis

  • Help protect profits by studying past incidents.
  • Identify risks in Front Office processes (via deep dives and RSCA*) and suggest fixes.
  • Review control results and perform detailed checks.

 

2. Business Activity Monitoring

  • Track and report key risk indicators (KRIs) and action plans.
  • Follow up on internal/external recommendations (e.g., audits, regulations).
  • Engage stakeholders (e.g., chase updates, clarify requirements).
  • Contribute to training and knowledge-sharing sessions.

 

3. Reporting 

  • Create dashboards/reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze trends (weekly/monthly/quarterly) and flag issues.
  • Improve reporting with automation/digital tools where possible.

 

4. Governance & Tools

 

  • Ensure data input & quality check.
  • Contribute to the governance and other initiatives
  • Prepare materials for and participate in business committees.
  • Ad-hoc analysis for set deadlines

 

Profile and Skills to Success

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from reputable university
  • 2–5 years of experience in investment banking, capital markets, or a front-office risk/control role.
  • Strong analytical skills with a critical mindset to evaluate risks and propose actionable solutions.
  • Advanced Excel and VBA knowledge (Python or other programming skills are a plus).
  • Clear communication in English, both written and verbal
  • Proactive and autonomous, but also a team player able to work with others

 

About the Team 

 

  • The team set-up faces increasing Regulatory and Conduct demands beyond pure Operational Risk. As part of Strategy Conduct and Risk (SCR), GM OPC operates over the 3 main regions, through the three following practices:

 

  • Regulatory Practice: Support regulatory requirements using a sustainable framework that is aligned with our governance, control plan, and risk assessment 
  • Conduct Practice: Assess and challenge the effectiveness of the Conduct Control set up while ensuring full convergence between involved teams.
  • Operational Risk Practice:  Contribute to protect the business (P&L, reputation)
