Job Title: Assistant Manager - GLOSS Java Developer
Department: Markets IT
About Business line/Function:
In Settlement Securities IT Business Function, GLOSS is a trade processing system that automates the complete life cycle of the trade starting from trade capture to trade enrichment, confirmation, settlement, P&L calculation and accounting of the trade. GLOSS is being used for BNP Paribas Tokyo and BNP Paribas Hong-Kong branches.
Position Purpose:
We are looking for a Senior Java Developer to join the Gloss Development team. The role focuses on:
- Analyzing and interpreting requirements provided by product owners and translating them into robust Java solutions.
- Designing, coding, testing, and delivering high‑quality components and features independently.
- Leading technical decision‑making, conducting code reviews, and ensuring best‑practice implementation.
- Mentoring junior developers, fostering their growth, and promoting a collaborative, high‑performance development culture.
Responsibilities
Direct Responsibilities
- Requirements Interpretation – Work with product owners to understand functional and non‑functional settlement needs and translate them into detailed technical specifications and user stories.
- Design, Development & Unit Testing – Build robust Java components (Spring Boot, REST APIs, JPA/Hibernate) that meet the specifications, writing clean, secure, high‑performance code and comprehensive unit tests (JUnit, Mockito).
- Defect Investigation & Resolution – Independently conduct root‑cause analysis of settlement defects and deliver code fixes or process enhancements without needing constant guidance.
- Roadmap & Reporting – Keep the GLOSS enhancement roadmap current (scope, milestones, delivery dates) and provide concise sprint‑level status updates to product managers and business owners.
- Design Review & Compliance – Participate in design and code reviews, ensuring all solutions comply with settlement industry standards, regulatory mandates, and internal control frameworks.
- Integration & Release Support – Coordinate integration testing, troubleshoot CI/CD pipeline issues, and support stable production releases of new GLOSS functionality.
- Dependency Management – Identify internal and external dependencies (clearing houses, market‑data feeds, downstream systems) and develop proactive mitigation plans.
- Testing Sign‑Off – Create test scenarios, review outcomes, and formally sign off that changes satisfy acceptance criteria and regulatory compliance.
Contributing Responsibilities
- Technical Documentation – Maintain up to date process maps, impact analyses, and technical guides in Confluence/OneNote.
- Tool & Governance Compliance – Track work in Jira, log time in Clarity, and adhere to SDLC and audit standards.
- Cross Team Collaboration – Act as the technical liaison among product owners, QA, and operations, facilitating workshops, walkthroughs, and sign off sessions across locations.
- Mentorship & Continuous Improvement – Coach junior developers, share Java best practices, and drive enhancements to coding standards, testing procedures, and development processes.
Technical Competencies
- Understand settlement‑domain processes (post‑trade, clearing‑house flows, and related regulations).
- Design and implement Java 8/17/21 code using Spring/Spring‑Boot, REST APIs, and JPA/Hibernate.
- Create and maintain unit/integration tests with JUnit and Mockito.
- Build and debug using Maven/Gradle and integrate changes via CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Produce clear process maps, impact analyses, and technical documentation in Confluence/OneNote.
- Use Jira for task tracking, Git for version control, and work within Agile/Scrum ceremonies.
- Communicate effectively with business owners, QA, and operations, translating technical details into business language and vice‑versa.

Specific Qualifications:
· Minimum 8 years of experience along with bachelor’s degree or more in IT
· Prior experience in similar domain.

- Trade Life Cycle and Settlement Domain Knowledge
- Java 8/17/21 or above (Hibernate, Spring, Spring Boot)
