Your daily role 

BNP Paribas’ Global Markets business offers a broad range of products and services in the global interest rates, credit, currency, equities & commodity markets. Global Markets help their franchise of clients find effective ways to raise and invest capital as well as manage their exposure to risk. Their client base comprises of corporations, institutional investors, banks, governments and supranational organizations. Global Markets has the scale and reach to conduct business anywhere in the world and deliver products denominated in almost all of the world’s currencies.  

As a Product Owner specializing in market abuse surveillance, you will be at the forefront of designing, developing, and implementing advanced analytical solutions to detect potentially abusive trading practices. 

 

In addition to your data science expertise, you will play the role of Product Owner, helping to define strategic solutions and overseeing the development lifecycle of detection tools. 

 

Key deliverables include: 

  • Analyzing large datasets to identify unusual trading behaviors and trends.
  • Creating prototypes to validate detection models, which will be industrialized.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of new market abuse detection methods (Machine Learning).
  • Acting as the Product Owner for the market abuse detection platform, defining the vision, strategy, and roadmap in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Prioritizing and managing the product backlog to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborating with compliance and risk management teams to interpret model results and refine detection strategies.
  • Regularly communicating with development teams to ensure technical feasibility and optimal execution of product features.
  • Maintaining and improving existing detection systems and frameworks by incorporating the latest advancements in data science and market understanding.
  • Developing dashboards and reporting tools to monitor trading activity and model performance.
  • Communicating findings to stakeholders through detailed reports and presentations, providing insights and recommendations for future actions.
  • Staying informed about regulatory developments and technological advances in market abuse detection.

 

 

To meet regulatory requirements regarding ethical conduct—particularly in detecting and preventing behaviors contrary to market integrity, client interests, and professional ethics—Global Markets has established a dedicated surveillance team within its First Line of Defense (1LOD): Front Office Conduct Surveillance (FOCS). 

 

You will join this growing team, reporting to the Head of Product for the FOCS team within Global Markets CIB. In this role, you will interact with surveillance officers and IT developers worldwide. 

 

You will be based in BNP Paribas Investment Bank’s main building, located at the heart of the historic Stock Exchange district in Paris, at 20 Boulevard des Italiens, 75009 Paris. This dynamic environment is easily accessible via the Opéra, Richelieu-Drouot, and Quatre-Septembre metro stations

Are You Our Market Abuse Surveillance Specialist (M/F)? 

Yes, if you have at least five years of experience as a Product Owner and are proficient in SQL and Python. 

 

You have strong team spirit and the ability to adapt quickly to complex environments. You are known for your solid analytical skills and results-oriented approach. You can develop and adapt processes effectively. 

 

You also hold a financial market certification (e.g. : CFA, FRM). 

 

You are proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
