Business Overview:
Corporate & Institutional Banking (“CIB”) offers clients capital markets, financing and advisory services. It is a globally recognized leader in many areas of expertise including structured financing and derivatives, across a variety of asset classes.
Financial Institutions Coverage (“FIC”) is a global coverage organization reporting directly to the Head of CIB. FIC is responsible for the origination, development and management of trusted global client relationships that thrive. FIC aims to be recognized as strategic client advisors, focusing on a “One Bank Approach” to protect and build existing client wallet share, while selectively attracting new high potential clients. FIC also seeks to globalize client relationships through building strong cross-selling between regions and business lines, such as Global Markets and BNP Paribas Securities Services business. FIC is committed to act as champions for BNP Paribas’ Sustainability and Digital agendas with clients, and to be the first line of defense for the firm from a regulatory, risk and compliance perspective.
Globally, FIC is organized in three regional hubs (London, New York, Hong Kong) with over 428 professionals worldwide, based in over 30 countries. FIC is focused on five institutional client sectors Insurance, Banks & Financial Intermediaries, Investors (Hedge funds, Asset Managers and Pension funds), Official Institutions (including Central Banks and Sovereign Wealth Funds) and Financial Sponsors. As the activities of institutional clients converge across sectors (Insurers/asset managers; financial sponsors/insurance, etc.) the sector bankers dynamically collaborate to ensure the firm understands and is responsive to the client needs as these evolve.
The FIC Americas team encompasses over 100 professionals located in New York, San Francisco, Boston, Toronto, Montreal, Mexico City, Bogota, São Paulo and Santiago.

Responsibilities:
The role reports to the Head of Insurance Americas Coverage, and will provide support to Senior Bankers in the sector.
The successful candidate will be detail-oriented with excellent analytical, interpretative and interpersonal skills—possessing an ability to thrive in a dynamic and collaborative work environment. This individual will work closely with FIC Senior Bankers who cover a variety of clients in the Insurance space. As an Associate in FIC, the candidate is expected to:
- Work in close coordination with Senior Bankers and experts from specialized product groups to develop an in-depth knowledge of all portfolio clients across the Insurance and related Asset Management sector
- Help develop new business opportunities by preparing and presenting value-added client presentations based on relevant industry research and detailed financial analysis and modeling
- Develop databases containing market and other relevant information that can be leveraged for analytical, risk management and marketing purposes
- Actively disseminate as appropriate, client intelligence to key constituents
- Identify strategic and financial issues that clients may face due to the competitive dynamics of their specific market segments, along with other macro factors including financial market trends, changes in regulation and general economic conditions
- Develop a solid understanding of the entire range of BNP Paribas capabilities applicable to Insurance clients (including but not limited to Strategic Advisory, Global Markets; Securities Services, ALM, etc.)
- Actively coordinate and participate with product specialist teams on client pitches to generate new business opportunities, and seek to be actively involved in transaction execution
- Assist in handling credit and business process issues (annual reviews, implementation of ISDA and CSAs, sustainability screenings...) in coordination with business lines and the ICAT and Risk teams
- Train and mentor analysts
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Business Undergraduate or MBA with specialization in Finance
- CFA or Accounting Designation would be an asset
Experience:
- Min. 3 years of direct experience in investment banking, consulting, corporate development within a financial institution and/or a related field
- Specific experience working with financial institutions
Technical Knowledge:
- Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Fundamental understanding of economics, accounting principles and Sustainability criteria for Financial Institutions clients
Aptitudes and behaviors:
- A high degree of initiative—a proactive, reliable, self-starter
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively within the group and across various product groups and functional areas

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $150,000 to $200,000 annually. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business line, and geographic/office location.
