About Business line/Function:

ISPL Compliance Hub as a department was established in November 2013 at ISPL in Mumbai, India with the hire of a department head. The ISPL team provides support on compliance administrative level tasks to BNPP compliance teams globally. The scope of work includes offshoring administrative and Level I support to functions such as:

  • Training Support
  • Capital Markets Surveillance
  • Electronic Communications Surveillance
  • Professional Ethics
  • Offshoring/Outsourcing Coordination 
  • Projects & System Support 
  • AML Post transaction monitoring Support
  • Compliance Independent Testing of Financial Security (AML/SAN/KYC), Protection of Client Interest and Professional Ethics

Position Purpose

ISPL Compliance Hub is focused to protect the reputation of the Group and effectively manage risk across all business areas by providing support to various Compliance functions. At present the department is broadly organized into divisions which embed into the areas they support to provide services for Global Compliance Training, Capital Markets Surveillance, Electronic Communication Surveillance, Transversal Risk Management (TRM), Compliance Migrations Co-Ordination, Personal Account Dealing, MIS and Projects support. The team works closely with business partners in CIB and the wider group.  

 

The role is related to Transversal Risk Management (TRM) within ISPL Compliance Hub

Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities

  1. Perform end-to-end testing of AML/SAN/KYC controls defined in the Group Generic control library and Compliance Control Library across all territories
  2. Verify that each control is designed effectively and operating as intended against the latest AML/CTF statutes, regulatory guidance and international sanctions regimes
  3. Develop detailed test plans, scripts and work‑papers for each control, referencing relevant policy documents and risk assessments
  4. Identify control gaps, deviations, or failures; perform root cause analysis and draft clear, risk based remediation recommendations.
  5. Collaborate with Country/Regional Compliance covering Financial Security to help ensure consistency in interpretation and application of existing and new regulatory requirements.
  6. Co-ordinate for timely closure of action plans recommended in response to adverse audit observations and regulatory examinations.
  7. Escalate issues and exceptions noted during control testing.
  8. Ensure close collaboration with domain Leads within TRM team who are responsible for the definition of the control methodology and accountable for the adequate execution of the controls.
  9. Assist in adhoc projects or activities as and as needed.

 

Contributing Responsibilities

  1. Comply with procedure and other relevant policies/ procedures of BNP Paribas group and regulations, and industry best practice.
  2. Collaborate and work in tandem with team members and relevant stakeholders
  3. Be supportive and adoptive to changes of procedures and scope of work

 

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

  1. Extensive AML/Sanctions/KYC experience and should be a subject matter expert (SME)
  2. Sound understanding of AML/Sanctions/KYC guidelines for APAC/ EU jurisdictions. 
  3. Preferably, at least 4/5 years of AML/Sanctions/KYC Compliance experience. Prior work exposure in Audit team will be an added advantage.
  4. Hands‑on experience with Transaction Monitoring Systems (e.g., Actimize) and Customer Screening / List‑Matching tools 
  5. Understanding of international sanctions frameworks (OFAC, UN, EU, UK, Australian DFAT).
  6. Must have strong interpersonal skills, a flexible, collaborative and team-oriented approach to problem-solving and an ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment, and preferably with some experience of dealing in multiple countries in Asia Pacific. 
  7. Ability to work independently as well as within a team
  8. An ability to write concisely and clearly; and to produce clear constructive advice under pressure and within short timeframes. 
  9. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint.

Specific Qualifications (if required)

  1. Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
  2. o   Audit experience or qualifications in finance
