Job Title: Assistant Vice President – Oracle PL/Sql Developer – Collateral Management

Department: Global Markets IT


About Business line/Function: 

The Global Markets business of BNP Paribas helps its corporate and institutional clients leverage capital markets across the globe for their financing, risk management and investment needs. This encompasses a wide range of financial products ranging from Foreign exchange to complex Equity Derivatives that are traded in financial markets across the globe 24/7. IT systems are integral to the business and are a key part of the value proposition to clients. These IT systems range from industry standard products for standard process automation to internally developed, often, market leading IT applications. The IT teams owning these IT systems are made up of functions that include Technical and Application production support, Business Analysis & Project Management, Development & Maintenance and Quality Control. BNP Paribas India Solutions is an equal partner in these IT functions along with colleagues in other locations including Paris, London, New York, Tokyo, Singapore & Hong Kong. This partnership ranges from sharing the IT workload, executing global strategy to owning global applications offshore. The technology and engineering landscape is wide, encompassing almost all techniques and platforms. It continues to evolve and transform with the market with the business continuing to invest in it.

Position Purpose: 

The position is for a senior SQL Developer in Oracle with Application DBA experience. The candidate would be responsible for designing, developing and optimizing existing SQL queries. This may involve close collaboration with the System DBAs to implement changes as direct access to change all System DB Parameters is restricted. This role requires a good knowledge of RDBMS concepts, SQL optimization and experience with SQL programming in Oracle. The candidate should be able to utilize CBO, tuning, execution plan analysis, TKPROF and AWR reports to solve and predict performance issues. The role also requires one to have an appreciation of the underlying data and business to understand the reports being developed and suggest better ways of sourcing the data. Some knowledge of how Java applications connect to the database is preferred but not mandatory.


Responsibilities:

Direct Responsibilities

• Write optimized Oracle SQL queries for reports. 

• Design and implement database schemas, tables, indexes, and constraints.

• Perform database tuning and performance optimization for existing queries by monitoring current • performance and slowly degrading queries.

• Perform migration from Sybase to Oracle based queries as per requirement

Contributing Responsibilities

• Work closely with software developers, business analysts to understand requirements.

• Provide technical support and guidance on database best practices.

• Document database structures, processes, and procedures.

 

 

Technical & Behavioral Competencies:


• Strong proficiency in Oracle SQL writing skills

• Knowledge of database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization

• Experience with Oracle. Sybase experience is optional

• Some knowledge of how Java applications connect with the Database. 

• Good communication skills and be able to work as part of a team


Specific Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of experience along with Bachelor's Degree - in Engineering

• Prior experience in similar domain.
