The position at a glance

The Americas CIB Transversal Operation Permanent Control team is responsible for strengthening and aligning the OPC teams embedded within our businesses and functions by standardizing and implementing a consistent OPC methodology across the region. For this role specifically, the Canada-based candidate will support Transversal OPC’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy that aims to strengthen the permanent control framework by automating internal processes and developing self-service tools to proactively reduce operational risk. 


The position is created as part of extended team headed in New York and localized in Montréal as part of the regional set up. The CIB Americas Transversal Operational Permanent Control (“OPC”) Team has a broad range of responsibilities, overseeing the operational controls related activities in various perimeters like front offices, Operations, and functions such as Finance and others. The responsibilities include among other tasks: procedure management, control design, monitoring, and assessment, control performance reporting, risk assessment, and audit recommendations follow-up.


 

In detail

The team member will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Contribute actively to the implementation of Transversal OPC’s AI program by automating manual qualitative and quantitative analysis and building front-end interfaces intended for bank-wise use. 
  • Collaborate transversally with internal stakeholders (i.e., Business Lines & Functions) to translate their business requirements into high-impact AI/ML solutions to generate savings.
  • Leverage advanced Python programming to build robust data pipelines, interact with ML models through APIs, and automate workflows.
  • Plan, organize, design and maintain data sources, ETL workflows and build dashboards in tools like Power BI for scalable, refreshable analysis and reporting
  • Communicate technical concepts and results to non-technical stakeholders, including upper management, in a clear and concise manner. 
  • Assist in identifying areas for operational process improvements, control procedures, and workflow organization using AI to increase the team’s efficiency and effectiveness.


Work conditions: This position provides for standard working conditions in an office and a normal work schedule from Monday to Friday. This position requires little travel.

 

The strengths and skills that will help you succeed

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Statistics, or Mathematics) required.
  • Master’s, MBA, other advanced degree/designation preferred.


Years of experience: 

  • 0 to 1.


Languages: 

  • English required & French an asset*


Technical skills: 

  • Knowledge or experience leveraging AI to deliver impactful and insightful solutions
  • Intermediate to advanced level in Python coding
  • Experience with machine learning and deep learning libraries (e.g., Pandas, NLTK, SciPy, Scikit-learn, NumPy, Keras and TensorFlow)
  • Intermediate to advanced level in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) 
  • Intermediate level in data analytics automation tools (e.g., Alteryx)
  • Advanced level in Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, Power Query, Macros)
  • Knowledge in SharePoint (e.g., Lists) and other scripting technology (e.g., VBA, PowerShell)
  • Experience with database technologies (e.g., Oracle) and data query languages (e.g., SQL)
  • Experience in statistics, regression models, random forests, and LSTM models


Soft skills: 

  • Excellent communication skills, oral, written, and presentation.
  • Solid project management skills.
  • Change agent with exemplary attitude: innovative, enthusiastic, rigorous, execution oriented.
  • Self-starter and team player, able to work independently and collaboratively with various teams in a deadline-focused environment to deliver high-quality and timely results.
