In a changing world, unprecedented challenges require unmatched talent. Join one of Montreal's Top Employers in 2025. We are a dynamic and growing organization having its main establishment located in downtown Montreal and part of a leading international banking institution fully committed to building a more sustainable future. Note that the position may be in the Canadian Branch of BNP Paribas or in one of its subsidiaries based in Montreal.

The position at a glance

The AI & Analytics Lab is BNP Paribas CIB's center of excellence in AI/Machine Learning, responsible for spearheading the bank's Agentic transformation. We are looking for a positive, energetic and self-motivated AI Project Manager with strong organizational skills to drive the success of some of our most strategic projects. Reporting directly to the Head of the Montreal team, this is a critical role that bridges the gap between business objectives and technical execution. This role ensures that a cross-functional team of Data Scientists, Developers, and IT partners delivers high-value products efficiently, aligned with strategic business goals, and adhering to high quality standards.

In detail

Manage a portfolio of AI projects

  • Define scope, objectives, and roadmap: Bridge the gap between technical capabilities and business value by deeply understanding the client's pain points; translate business goals into clear project scope, deliverables, timelines and success criteria; create a high‑level roadmap that links each milestone to client needs.
  • Project management: Develop concrete project plans (work breakdown structure, schedules, budgets); run sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and demo sessions; prioritize work based on learnings and evolving client requirements.
  • Support a robust evaluation framework: this includes defining clear KPIs for accuracy, latency, and hallucination rates, and implementing systematic QA loops to ensure iterative improvements are statistically validated.
  • Stakeholder management and communication: Identify key client and internal stakeholders; provide regular status updates, meeting summaries, and decision logs; translate technical details into business‑focused language.
  • Budget and cost control: Track expenditures against the approved budget, forecast future spending, and adjust resource allocation to avoid overruns while preserving delivery quality.

Support team efficiency

  • Supervise team’s staffing on the projects: Regularly gather information about data scientists’ bandwidth, anticipate demand, and work on team staffing with the Lab’s leadership.
  • Leverage Agile Methodologies: Utilize Agile project management practices and tools to support the Lab’s effort.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Act as a liaison between Data Scientists, Developers, IT Partners, QA, Business Partners, and Control Functions to ensure alignment and successful product delivery.
  • Create Strategic and Regulatory Documents: Prepare clear and compelling documentation, presentations, and reports for diverse audiences, including business stakeholders, technical teams, and executive leadership.
  • Staff supervision/ Organizational Structure: While not a management position, this role will require supervising the Data Scientists to manage their capacity and ensure timely delivery of the projects.

The strengths and skills that will help you succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field such as Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistic, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in a technology role (AI/ML/Data-related project or product management).
  • Professional working proficiency in English language is required.
  • Proven success in organizing and leading Agile projects using Jira. Nice-to-have: Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent experience.
