The Senior Financial Accountant is part of a team responsible for ensuring the Finance & Control department meets its Financial, Regulatory & Control obligations for all BNP Paribas Australian entities. 

Direct Responsibilities

 Controls 
  * Oversee the execution of Daily, Monthly and Quarterly first level controls for BNPP Sydney Branch, BPAC
  * Perform 2nd level control as required by APAC finance.

 Reporting 
  * Preparation and review of audit files for the external auditors
  * Preparation of daily LCR
  * Preparation of the local statutory financial statements and Annual Statutory returns
  * Provide assistance to APAC finance head office reporting team with data validation, reporting, analysis etc
  * Production of local regulatory reporting to APRA, ABS, RBA, ASIC, etc 

 Tax 
  * Preparation of quarterly tax effect accounting
  * Preparation of weekly withholding tax return
  * Preparation of information for tax returns
  * Preparation of the annual AIIR return

 General 

  * Back up other team members during leave
  * Assist Head of FR with OFS project and other up and coming projects such as Local Regulatory 5-year Road Map project, etc 
  * Provide support to other department on ad-hoc request

 Technical & Behavioral Competencies 
  * Accounting qualification
  * Membership of CFA/CA
  * Strong technical knowledge of Regulatory Reporting and experience in statutory account preparation.
  * Exposure to Australian Prudential Standards
  * Ability to work autonomously
  * Good understanding of financial products, control and risk assessment implications
  * Solid systems knowledge
  * Immediate level for Microsoft Word, Excel and Business Objects
  * Strong communication skills
  * Working knowledge of tax requirements.  Experience of preparation of various tax filings.
  * Ability to work to tight timelines and under pressure to ensure deliverables are achieved.
  * Banking experience preferred with an understanding of concepts such as capital requirements, risk/return analysis, credit risk, country risk, liquidity risk, transfer pricing etc. being desirable
  * Accountability and responsibility - committed to meeting objectives
  * Attention to detail
  * Team Orientation - works with the team to ensure timetables are met
