Job Title: Assistant Manager

Department: Global Markets Operations - Corporate Actions

About Business line/Function: Corporate Actions 

Position Purpose: 

Primary responsibilities of the team include:

  • Monitoring Corporate Actions in all reliefs and identification of eligible global positions
  • Follow-up of events’ announcements, forecast and deadlines leading to an efficient management regarding scrubbing, notifications and bookings in our general books and recording systems
  • Managing the election process for voluntary events by interacting with other internal support functions, compiling aggregated instruction to be sent to agents/custodians and ensure good receipt.
  • Strict follow-up of the expected proceeds/results at payment date, and follow-up controls in regards to theoretical bookings and forecast assumptions that may leave with breaks on internal or external reconciliations.
  • Acting as a central point of contact for Corporate actions operations subject matters within BNP Paribas (across all functions) and outside (Custodians, Counterparties)

 

Responsibilities:

Direct Responsibilities

-          Assist in production (capture events, files setup, positions eligibility, reconciliation, payments, and bookings).

-          Ensure the right fiscal model is applied along the different records and until finance, then provide evidence support in case inquiries from fiscal authorities in respect of withholding taxes applied on proceeds.

-          Ensure controls are accurately applied in within Operations and regularly upgraded based on evolutions.

-          Follow and resolve any outstanding items in a timely manner with relevant escalation procedure applicable and compliance duties.

-          Ensure continuous improvement support in processes and system enhancements (IT, Operations, Product Developments).

-          Supervise the team learning continuity and training programs.

-          Coach day to day activity, through activity monitoring indicators and support in production priorities.

-          Be the entry point for business, management, clients, and other partners.

-          Formalize transparent and synthetic summaries of activity in timely manner (e.g. Daily through escalations to manager when applicable, weekly to head of department for activity supervision, monthly in providing some key metrics reflecting KPIs and KRIs).

 

Contributing Responsibilities

-          Follow and capture events announcements across all markets.

-          Analyze terms and transmit complete notifications to clients. 

-          Respect any timeline and deadline cutoffs. 

-          Control books and records at the different stages of events and until pay date.

-          Follow and report any outstanding items (deposit or cash breaks) (Firm and clients breaks) 

-          Keep on enriching relations with the business lines representative and network agents. 

-          Ensure a tracking record of training plans and support team officers in growing.

-          Keep on documenting all procedures in place to stick regulations, markets updates, and process evolutions.

-          Contribute in all control plan protocols according to local operational risk policies.

-          Contribute in precision and accuracy of activity metrics and escalate any relevant problems or success to management on a continuous basis.

-          Fluent in English (French speaker is a positive aspect)

-          Dispose strong team spirit with a natural dynamic leadership and client focus mindset. 

-          Financial markets knowledge

 

Specific Qualifications:

·         Preferred a Bachelor in accounting, Mathematics or Finance.

Technical Skills:

  • Capacity to analyze, organize and report efficiently. 
  • Flexibility on working methods and changing international environment.
  • Rigorous and reactive in order to face pressure and reach excellence anytime
  • Diligently follow the set procedures and Compliance policies
  • Knowledge of financial markets and products, and easiness/expertise in dealing with Excel.
  • English speaker
