Job Title: AS400/RPG Developer

Department: Back Office Systems 

About Business line/Function: 

Back Office Systems Department manages and supports critical applications used in daily operations across BNP Paribas Personal Finance. The team ensures stability, evolution, and scalability of core platforms, including AS400-based solutions, contributing to business continuity and transformation programs.  

Position Purpose: 

As an AS400 Developer, you will design, develop, and maintain applications on the AS400 platform, contributing to new developments and enhancements of existing system, based on Adelia Studio Framework over AS400 platform.

You will work within a structured delivery framework (Agile or Waterfall), ensuring high-quality development, performance, and reliability of solutions. The role combines legacy system expertise with modern development practices and collaboration in an international environment.

You will also leverage modern development practices, including AI-assisted tools, to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery efficiency, in compliance with BNP Paribas standards.

Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities

  • Develop,maintainand improveapplications on AS400 platform
  • Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle (analysis, design, development, testing, deployment)
  • Deliver new features and enhancements for existing applications
  • Ensure quality, performance, and reliability of developed solutions
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for production issues
  • Participate in effort estimation and technical design

  • Support knowledge sharing and documentation
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to standards

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

Technical Skills

  • AS400 platform development
  • Strong experience with RPG / CL (ILE RPG, ILE CL) 
  • Knowledge of SQL and DB2 for AS400
  • Experience with modular development and code reuse
  • Understanding of ETL processes and Data Warehouse concepts 
  • Basic knowledge of SOA concepts 
  • Exposure to ADELIA Studioframework(nice to have – training can be provided)

Behavioral Skills

  • Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to handle technical issues
  • Attention to detail and analytical thinking
  • Good communicationand collaboration skills
  • Ability to work effectively in local and remote teams
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn

Specific Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years’ experience on AS400 platform
  • Experience in RPG/CL development 
  • Exposure to DB2 and relational databases 
  • Fluent English (written & spoken) – mandatory

  • Skill 2 – RPG / CL programming (ILE RPG, ILE CL) (mandatory)
