The position at a glance
This role is a position within the Electronic Markets Application Production team in Montreal which is part of the APS group (Application Production & Support). This is a global team providing services to the Forex, Rates, Credit, eCommerce and Commodities businesses within BNP Paribas CIB Global Markets.
The team also manages connectivity to more than 35 electronic trading venues (EBS, Reuters AutoQuote/FIX/RFA, Currenex, HotSpot, Eurex, NYSE Euronext Liffe, CME, Brokertec, EurexRepo, Bloomberg, Tradeweb, EuroMTS, MarketAxess,Trumid,NASDAQ
In detail
- Provide 24/5 application support : deliver prompt incident resolution and problem management for all components of the eTrading and eCommerce platforms. Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain applications running on a mixed OS environment (Windows, Linux, UNIX) that exceeds 1,000 servers.
- Own a specific portfolio of applications & technologies : be assigned one or more proprietary eTrading/eCommerce applications and the underlying technology stack. Develop deep expertise in the assigned portfolio and act as the primary point of contact for related incidents, enhancements, and knowledge transfer.
- Develop and maintain system wide technical expertise : acquire a solid understanding of the broader eTrading and eCommerce environment, including architecture, data flows, and integration points. Continuously update technical skills to keep pace with the complexity and evolution of the platforms.
- Support globally distributed systems : work with infrastructure hosted across four major financial hubs (London, New York, Tokyo, Singapore).Coordinate with regional teams to ensure consistent service levels and adherence to local operating procedures.
- Participate in on call and weekend rotations: join the team’s on call schedule and respond to incidents outside regular business hours. Perform scheduled weekend maintenance or emergency work as required to meet service level commitments.
- Document and share knowledge : produce clear, concise run books, incident reports, and knowledge base articles for the applications under your ownership. Contribute to team wide best practice documentation to improve overall support efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams : work closely with developers, infrastructure engineers, security, and business analysts to resolve complex issues and implement fixes. Participate in change management and release acceptance activities to ensure smooth production deployments.
- Drive continuous improvement : identify recurring problems or performance bottlenecks and propose automated or process based solutions.Support initiatives that enhance system reliability, monitoring, and incident response times.
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- 7+ years of experience
- Professional working proficiency in English language is required*
- Domain Expertise: Global Markets FICC (Rates, Credit, and FX)
- Trading Systems: ION Trading, FIX Protocol, Bloomberg, Client Connectivity.
- Monitoring & Automation: Geneos (ITRS), Dynatrace, , BladeLogic, Ansible, Jenkins, Autosys, Splunk
- Miidleware Messaging: Tibco Rendezvous, MQ
- Cloud Platforms: Private and public Cloud.
- Operating Systems: Linux, Windows
- Programming & Scripting: Python, Shell Script
- Database: SQL Server, MySQL
- Project Tools: ServiceNow, JIRA
- Information Security: IAM, System Hardening, CyberArk
- Excellent troubleshooting and analysis skills are needed to quickly and accurately assess trouble areas in a wide variety of infrastructure and application environments
- Team player
