About the job

  • The position is a Data Officer Analytics Trainee role within RISK Market & Financial Institutions (“RISK MFI”) dedicated to the development and industrialization for the Valuation Model Risk team. 

    The RISK MFI Valuation Model Risk (VMR) team is the RISK team responsible for the second line of defense on valuation models within Global Markets. This therefore includes independent review and control of all models used for the generation of official daily P&L and risks. The team furthermore acts as a center of quantitative expertise within RISK MFI. Within the work of the VMR team, multiple tools and python scripts are used for monitoring, investigation and analysis. The industrialization and robustness of these tools and scripts are needed to reduce time and operational risk on the work delivered by the team. 

    This internship is particularly suited for a student or fresh graduate that has good python programming skills and is interested in developing skills in financial mathematics or stochastic calculus.

    We are looking for a profile who can rapidly develop knowledge into the internal tools used to extract information and awareness of the work done by the team. 

    The role requires agility to onboard oneself onto new topics to support the team on their projects and quickly start contributing.

Your Main Activities Are

  • Analyze, re-engineer processes and implement in Python to harmonize such processes, improve efficiency, and reduce operational risk related to existing practices.
  • Improve risk insight by making better use of data and improved visualizations.
  • Focus on the path to production of the tools delivered by the team, making sure best practices are followed when developing tools, to simplify migration to a full industrial setup at a later stage.
  • Build knowledge on the valuation model risk and risk metrics. 

Profile and Skills to Success

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative based subject such as Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Sciences, Economics, Econometrics, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Knowledge of the Python programming language with a focus on data analysis (basic concepts - dictionaries, list, etc; packages – numpy, pandas, etc.)
  • Experience with other computing languages, in particular C++ or C#, is a plus.
  • Additional benefits for the knowledge of the Object-Oriented Programming / Test Driven development concepts and Python architecture design patterns. Also experience with DevOps setup (git, TeamCity), creating unit and integration tests, library maintenance is highly preferable.
