About Business line/Function:
The mission of Risk Systems is to provide Senior Management of the Group, of the Operating Divisions, and of RISK with full transparency and dynamic analysis of the risks and clients managed by Corporate Investment Banking (CIB) and Investment Solutions (IS) Business Units, as per the scope detailed below.
On Market & Liquidity risks: it is Group-wide. Risk Systems comprehensively covers the CIB capital markets activities, ALM Treasury as well as the IS Business Units,
On Counterparty risks: it is Group-wide. Risk Systems covers all counterparty risks arising from derivative and repo transactions,
Depending on mandates given, Risk Systems also assumes, directly or indirectly, responsibilities on the above risk categories in specific areas of the Retail Business Units.
To provide a fully integrated market and counterparty risk management system, combining flexibility with industrial reliability, operating at the heart of the bank’s risk management framework helping to protect shareholder value and the integrity of investment banking activities.
Position Purpose
Within BNP Paribas, RISK group is responsible for calculating & providing Market and Credit Risk to traders, market and risk analysts. There is a RISK Citizen platform built to help all end users with automate process & procedures. This role involves leading a production support team of over 25 individuals within the Market and Counterparty Risk domain. The successful candidate will support six critical applications that are integral to the risk management operations of multiple corporate banks.
Responsibilities
• Understanding of the flow & overall business in investment banking
• Basic understanding of the RISK – Market, Counter party & credit RISK.
• Team Leadership: Oversee and guide a team of support specialists to ensure smooth operations and high performance in the Market and Counterparty Risk domain.
• SRE Activities: Lead Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) activities and managing respective KPIs. Deliver key monitoring and observability solutions, automate scenario-based investigations for faster root cause identification and incident resolution, resulting in a 70% reduction in monthly monitoring (Dynatrace) alerts and increased operational efficiency.
• Dashboard Creation: Develop and maintain the db-unity Service Now dashboard for multiple domains, providing real-time data on all ticket types (incidents, changes, problems, etc.). This initiative has positively impacted KPIs, reduced manual efforts, and streamlined daily operations.
• Continuous Improvement: Pro-actively share ideas and drive continuous improvements, build strong partnerships with development and business teams, focus on communication, and ensure team members are well-trained on applications, procedures, and policies. This has led to a reduction in weekly escalations to yearly escalations and improved production stability and team reputation globally.
• Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert on the most critical risk management application processes that handle significant critical incidents daily.
• Incident Management: Take ownership of critical incidents, communicate their impact to all stakeholders and leadership, and drive both tactical and long-term solutions.
• Trend Analysis: Identify long-term trends, prioritize root cause analysis queues, finalize preventive actions, and collaborate with business support to prioritize development efforts for periodic releases.
• Technical Project Delivery: Plan, execute, and oversee technical projects within the Market and Counterparty Risk domain. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and meet quality standards. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and implementation of new solutions.
• PIR Preparation: Prepare and finalize Post Incident Reviews (PIR) .
• Capacity Management: Conduct capacity assessments and manage resources effectively.
• Project Contribution: Participate actively in projects related to risk management.
• Obsolescence and Infrastructure: Participate in projects addressing obsolescence and infrastructure upgrades.
• Availability Accountability: Ensure the availability of infrastructure and components.
• Knowledge Management: Manage and disseminate knowledge effectively within the team.
• Skill Matrix Management: Maintain and update the skill matrix of the team.
• DevOps Integration: Facilitate the integration of DevOps practices within the team.
• IT Continuity: Participate in IT continuity and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) Disaster Recovery (DR) tests.
• Escalation Management: Handle escalations efficiently and effectively.
• Governance Participation: Engage in periodic governance activities.
• Weekend Support: Contribute to weekend support activities as needed. Also identify the opportunity to increase intra week changes
• Responsible Data integrity: responsible to check the data integrity within the system.
Research, diagnose, troubleshoot and identify solutions to resolve functional/data issues/queries
• Service transition basic knowledge – accept services, products/systems, determines where they are fit for purpose and assess readiness against agreed service acceptance criteria. t this role level, you will: make recommendations on go-live, early-life support and service acceptance.
• Application & User support core knowledge is mandatory having ITIL – V3-V4 , Alerting , Monitoring, Capacity management – Assessment, Database – SQL , PL SQL, Cloud infrastructure, python, deployment cycle, Incident management, Request management, Problem management, Change & Release management.
Technical Qualification
· Minimum 10-15 years’ experience in hands-on application support
· Hands-on experience in Oracle ,PL SQL – Sybase, Python
· Basics of Kubernetes, Cloud native, reporting tool- Power BI /equivalent
· Expert understanding of Dynatrace, Geneos, Splunk, equivalent monitoring & alerting tool
[ Good to have skills]
· Knowledge of Capital Market or Market Risk and Credit Risk would be an added advantage.
· Basic understanding of Jave, J2EE, Oracle
Non-Technical Qualifications
· Experience with working in an ITIL V3 & V4 along with service transition best practice
· Ability to multi-task, work under pressure & tight deadlines
· Self-motivated and highly professional with ability to lead and take ownership and responsibility
· Team player with strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
· Excellent problem-solving, communication and logical thinking.
· Experience in managing and testing disaster recovery plans (able to drive BCP DR / Live play exercise & able to document)
· Innovation/Out-of-the-box thinking (Good to have)
Specific Qualifications (if required)
· B.E / B. tech or equivalent
Preferred Certifications / Affiliations:
· FRM/CFA certifications would be a plus.
· ITIL V3 / V4 Certification
