Business Overview:

BNP Paribas Ratings Advisory works closely with Leverage Finance, Syndications, and Capital Markets in originating and executing transactions across the Bank’s product platform. Areas of focus include Leverage Finance, Acquisition Finance, Project Finance, Debt Capital Markets, Loan Syndications, and Strategic Equity. Ratings Advisory is responsible for providing guidance regarding the impact of proposed corporate and project finance transactions on the credit ratings of the Bank’s clients – a key factor in structuring and pricing. Additionally, Ratings Advisory is responsible for advising clients on the ratings process for strategic situations and first time issuers.

Ratings Advisory is also works closely with a diversified base of clients, including large corporates, energy/project finance, and financial sponsors, and being a small team, that results in broad responsibility, direct client contact, and interesting deal flow.

Responsibilities:

The opportunity with BNP Paribas’ Ratings Advisory - Americas Group offers broad exposure to investment banking, acquisition finance, energy and project finance, and the capital markets.

  • Strong modelling expertise, mainly in reviewing acquisition and other model scenarios and making relevant analytical adjustments
  • Contribute to preparation of pitch books, guidance memoranda and ratings presentations
  • Gain strong familiarity with capital structure and credit issues, and their relationship to Moody’s and S&P’s ratings scales and criteria
  • Prepare comparative transaction information to support guidance
  • Perform general market research
  • Coordinate Rating Agency meetings

Minimum Required Qualifications:

A background in Investment Banking, fixed income research, or one of the major rating agencies would be positive, as is experience in leverage finance

  • Strong modeling and PowerPoint skills.
  • Outstanding proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Solid understanding of accounting/financial statement analysis.
  • High level of motivation, dedication, intellectual curiosity & professional poise.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Strong written and communication/interpersonal skills.
  • IBanking/Fixed Income Research/Rating Agency/Credit Backgrounds would be positives

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Strong familiarity with rating agency criteria and methodologies, as well as, general corporate capital structure issues and credit analysis.
  • Strong accounting, financial statement analysis and modeling expertise, including understanding relevant rating agency analytical adjustments.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and managing various processes simultaneously.

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $150,000 to $200,000 annually. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business line, and geographic/office location.
