Description & exigences

Position Purpose

VP role within the Loans & Specialized Finance department, to support the origination, technical and environmental assessment and execution of loan capital market opportunities in APAC in the energy transition space (Low Carbon Transition Group) and Energy & Natural Resources. 

Lead and help senior members of the team in the origination, execution, and management of ENR/LCTG transactions within Asia and support other non-commercial banking activities.

Responsibilities

Direct responsibilities:

  • Evaluate low carbon transition sectors (across new energies, carbon capture, geothermal, hydrogen + its carriers, SAF, refineries, carbon intensity and footprint, etc) from both an extensive technical and commercial perspective
  • Due diligence and site visits for development financing and/or acquisition financing.
  • Write (including) evaluating technical memorandum in support of credit memorandum to ensure the consistency in assessing the credit and technical risk.
  • Attend to credit committee meetings with marketing officer to present the transaction.
  • Works jointly (or independently) with marketing officers and enhances Low Carbon Transition Group presence in its sector area.
  • Follow market and customers in their development activity and anticipates/ creates opportunities.
  • Assist in the other non-financing sector activities (including Advisory and Capital markets) transactions with respect to technical assessments in support of modelling for DCM/ECM and/or M&A transactions.

Contributing responsibilities:

  • Liaison with clients/external parties and other teams as and when required
  • Support on cross selling other banking services to client
  • Contribute directly/indirectly to the achievement of LSF-ENR’s yearly budget
  • Contribute to strict compliance of LSF will all compliance, conduct and other policies

Reporting:

  • Deal by deal reporting to relevant senior team members on specific transactions
  • Permanent non-deal direct reporting to the nominated Director or MD 
Qualifications - External

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

  • Capable of forming independent and objective opinions, given this will be an in-house technical and commercial support to the low carbon transition group in APAC. 
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and multi-task on several projects at a time
  • Efficient  time management skills due to the time sensitive nature of financing and advisory deals
  • Written and verbal communication skills, conciseness
  • Ability to build relationships and convince internal and external stakeholders
  • Organization skills, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and senior team members/customer needs
  • Attention to detail
  • Sense of initiative, proactivity and knowledge of when to voice out relevant matters
  • Autonomy and ability to solve problems
  • Strong commitment, ability to work flexible hours and travel
  • Work ethics and Integrity

Specific Qualifications (if required)

  • Engineering or commercial business development background 
  • Any prior environmental consulting background will be welcomed
  • Any prior project finance / energy transition/ sustainable financing/ natural resources knowledge is a PLUS
  • University educated with strong academic background
  • Demonstrated financial analysis and risk analysis skills 
  • Mandarin, Bahasa or other Asian language desirable but not a pre-requisite
