Job Title: Java Full stack Tech Lead (AVP)
Department: CEFS IT
About Business line/Function: CIB Client Engagement and Financial Security (CEFS IT) has focus on applications servicing Client Lifecycle management, Due Diligence /KYC , Customer Relation Management, Service Request Management, Referential and Data Quality, Transaction monitoring, Reconciliation, Data Platforms, and Anti-Money Laundering. Technologies being used include Java, .NET, Angular, Informatica, Power BI, Fenergo, Siebel, Actimize, Camunda, Drools on private cloud infrastructure. Agile and DevSecOps practices are widely used. Landscape includes projects that are a mix of established and some under transition to new platforms.
Position Purpose
- 10‑15 years of experience as a Full‑Stack Java Developer plus at least 5 years of proven Tech‑Lead or Team‑Leadership experience.
- Own the design, development, and long‑term evolution of enterprise‑grade applications (front‑end UI + back‑end services & databases).
- Lead a cross‑functional team that works with Java, Spring Boot, and modern UI frameworks (Angular/React) in an Agile, collaborative setting.
- Drive technical excellence, architectural governance, and innovation (e.g., AI‑enabled code generation).
Responsibilities
Direct Responsibilities
- Translate business goals into scalable, secure architecture and detailed technical designs.
- Lead the development of high‑performance applications using Java, Spring Boot, and a front‑end framework (Angular/React).
- Define, implement, and maintain RESTful APIs and third‑party integrations, ensuring versioning and backward compatibility.
- Guide the creation of responsive UI components with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks.
- Oversee data‑modeling and performance tuning for relational (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) stores.
- Set testing standards; champion unit, integration, and contract testing across the team.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies (daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and drive continuous improvement of the development process.
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies and disseminate knowledge through brown‑bag sessions, tech talks, and documentation.
Contributing Responsibilities
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions); ensure automated builds, tests, and releases.
- Lead database‑architecture initiatives, including GraphDB (Neo4j, Memgraph) strategy and schema evolution.
- Conduct rigorous code reviews, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior developers toward best‑practice craftsmanship.
- Analyse defect patterns, prioritize technical debt, and introduce test‑automation enhancements (e.g., expanding JUnit/Spock coverage).
- Stakeholder Management: Communicate technical road‑maps, risks, and progress to product owners, architects, and senior management.
- Team Development: Define career paths, conduct performance reviews, and support hiring/ onboarding of new talent.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to product‑line budgeting, capacity planning, and technology‑stack decisions (cloud, containers, observability).
Technical & Behavioral Competencies
- Core Languages & Design: Mastery of Java 8/11/17+, OOP, and architectural patterns (SAGA, MVC, CQRS, Event‑Driven).
- Frameworks: Deep experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring MVC, Hibernate, and building robust RESTful services.
- Front‑End: Expertise in Angular (or React/Vue), HTML5, CSS3, TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Databases: Advanced knowledge of SQL (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis, GraphDB).
- DevOps & Tooling: Proficient with Git, Maven/Gradle, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD (Jenkins/GitLab), and API testing (Postman).
- Cloud & Messaging: Hands‑on with AWS/Azure/GCP and messaging platforms (Kafka, NATS, MQ).
- AI Enablement: Experience leveraging AI‑driven code‑generation or assisted development tools.
- Leadership Skills: Visionary technical leader, excellent problem‑solving, strong communication, ability to influence without authority, and a track record of building high‑performing teams.
