Job Title: Assistant Manager - GLOSS Functional Developer
Department: D2S2C, Markets IT
About Business line/Function:
GLOSS is a trade processing system that automates the complete life cycle of the trade starting from trade capture to trade enrichment, confirmation, settlement, P&L calculation and accounting of the trade. GLOSS is being used for BNP Paribas Tokyo and BNP Paribas Hong-Kong branches.
Position Purpose:
The position is for a Functional Developer who would be part of the Gloss Development team and will be responsible for functionally documenting the requirements and developing & delivering the subjects individually and mentoring the junior members in the team
Responsibilities
Direct Responsibilities
- Gather & Translate Requirements – Document functional and non‑functional settlement requirements for GLOSS, then convert them into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications ready for development.
- Design, Code & Unit‑Test – Develop Java components (Spring/Spring Boot, REST APIs, JPA) that implement the approved stories, ensuring clean, secure, and high‑performance code that passes automated unit tests.
- Root‑Cause Analysis & Issue Resolution – Independently investigate settlement defects, identify the underlying cause, and deliver coded fixes or process improvements without constant supervision.
- Road‑Map Management & Stakeholder Reporting – Maintain an up‑to‑date GLOSS enhancement roadmap with scope, milestones, and delivery dates, and provide concise status reports to business owners and product managers each sprint.
- Design Review & Compliance Validation – Participate in design and code reviews, confirming that solutions adhere to settlement industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal control frameworks.
- Integration & Deployment Support – Coordinate integration testing, resolve build or CI/CD pipeline issues, and assist with stable releases of new GLOSS functionality to production environments.
- Dependency & Mitigation Planning – Identify internal and external dependencies (clearing houses, market‑data feeds, downstream systems) and create proactive mitigation or remediation plans.
- Testing Coordination & Sign‑Off – Prepare test scenarios, review test outcomes, and formally sign off that delivered changes meet the defined acceptance criteria and regulatory compliance.
Contributing Responsibilities
- Documentation & Knowledge Transfer – Produce and keep current process maps, impact analyses, and user guides, and capture technical decisions in Confluence/OneNote for future reference.
- Tool & Governance Management – Log work in Jira, record time in Clarity, and ensure all activities follow the organization’s SDLC standards and audit requirements.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Act as the liaison among business owners, product managers, QA, and operations, facilitating workshops, walkthroughs, and sign‑off sessions across locations.
- Mentorship & Continuous Improvement – Share best practices in both business analysis and Java development with junior team members and champion improvements to processes, testing, and coding standards.
Technical Competencies
- Understand settlement‑domain processes (post‑trade, clearing‑house flows, and related regulations).
- Elicit, write, and manage user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
- Design and implement Java 8+ code using Spring/Spring‑Boot, REST APIs, and JPA/Hibernate.
- Create and maintain unit/integration tests with JUnit and Mockito.
- Build and debug using Maven/Gradle and integrate changes via CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Produce clear process maps, impact analyses, and technical documentation in Confluence/OneNote.
- Use Jira for task tracking, Git for version control, and work within Agile/Scrum ceremonies.
- Communicate effectively with business owners, QA, and operations, translating technical details into business language and vice‑versa.

Specific Qualifications:
· Minimum 8 years of experience along with bachelor’s degree or more in IT
· Prior experience in similar domain.
