Job Title: Senior Data Scientist

About Business line/Function: FRS is a unique organization within the BNP PARIBAS IT Group. FRS is responsible for the alignment of IT programs with the strategy and objectives of Finance and Risk. With more than 150 team members located in Madrid and Lisbon, the FRS EMEA hub operates as a platform providing resources and expertise to deliver on tasks and projects in all areas of Finance, Risk and ALM-Treasury. This landscape is constantly growing due to major regulatory reforms, including the implementation of ESG commitments, digital transformation with the accelerated switch towards cloud technologies and major global projects that will shape the transformation of BNP Paribas.
The candidate will be a part of the Transformation team who would work on AI development projects for FRS with Paris, APAC, Nar and UK.
In particular, the [AI Transformation team] aims to support our business partners in the collection/identification of eligible AI topics, the definition and design of the tooling strategy, the implementation of the solution and its maintenance in production environment.
The position will lead to develop knowledge on various financial and credit risk topics as well as BNPP information system within a motivating environment
Position Purpose: The chosen candidate will assume, in close coordination with the Head on the [AI Center of Expertise]; the role of "Senior Data Scientist" participating, along with the whole team, in supporting the business teams in the experimentation and industrialization of innovative projects (AA) i.e. from the POC to project instruction phases and implementation and deployment in the BNPP ITG Cloud infrastructure.

Direct Responsibilities
They include following activities:
- Define the target architecture
- Design of the associated AI solution to meet user's needs
- Exchange with the various ITG experts to reach the full understanding of AI landscape (Service offers available, technical and security requirements, guidelines, …)
- Launch the Proof of Concept if needed to experiment new models, algorithms, technical assets, …
- Launch the industrialization process following ITG guidelines with the help of the project manager (project launching, instruction, …);
- Support the integration of solutions into the BNPP ITG infrastructure
- Coordinate the testing new solutions with users
- Manage the maintenance of the solutions in Production Environment
- Identify skills needed depending on the characteristics of the project
- Build the staffing accordingly project by project
- Identify potential new skills needed and coordinate with Head of CoE to anticipate needed training / hirings
Contributing Responsibilities
Transversal responsibilities
· Act as a mentor to other team members being Data Scientists or people within the team engaged in an upskilling/reskilling to AI path
· Acculturate our F&R-Solutions colleagues and our business partners, on AI capabilities helping them get basic/medium knowledge and enlighten them on its benefits.
· Act as first point of contacts for local business partners in the collect and first-level assessment of potential AI-eligible needs.
Contributing Responsibilities
- Participating in the "Ideation" phase used to identify pain points and possible topics eligible to AI
- Participate to the technological watch regarding AI at large: new algorithms, new models, new features, able propose up-to-date solutions to our portfolio of projects
- Participate to the Identification of potential new skills/competencies needed and alert Head of CoE accordingly.
Technical & Behavioral Competencies
Candidate must justify relevant experience on following streams:
· Minimum of 5 years as Team Leader coordinating team (5 people or more) on implementation and maintenance of IT solutions. Strong knowledge and experience in conducting the different phases of a project (requirements, design, implementation, tests, industrialization, …) is required. Also, significant experience on Agile is needed, especially Scrum methodology.
· Minimum of 2 years on AI projects having had the opportunity to work on a variety of topics: Machine Learning, NLG, NLP, LLM, MLLM, IDP, OCR, ... pushing those topics to Production environment validating industrialized phase.
Native English is required.
Specific Qualifications:
Candidate must have a master’s degree in computer science or data engineering or data science.
