Position Purpose

ALM Treasury Japan manages the liquidity of the balance sheet of BNP Paribas Tokyo Branch and BNP Paribas Securities (Japan) and manages risk exposures coming from balance sheet. The ALMT Treasury Officer is a member of the team tasked with managing liquidity, interest rate, and foreign exchange risks for the branch, aligned with ALCO policies and decisions. This role supports the Head of ALMT Treasury Japan in overseeing all liquidity matters within the Territory, with assistance from specialist teams at local, regional, or central levels.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of ALM Treasury Japan, the ALM Treasury Officer will perform:
Operational management
• Assist in managing ALMT’s liquidity and funding operations, covering both ALMT’s own activities and the funding of business lines. Actively manage short‑term and medium‑ to long‑term positions across JPY, USD, EUR and other currencies, within delegated limits, ensuring full compliance with regulatory liquidity ratios and Group guidelines.
• Assist with the management of Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB) through the execution of interest rate risk hedging operations.
• Assist with the management of FX positions arising from day-to-day activities, and monthly FX hedging of business PNL in foreign currency (sell down).
• Perform and follow up with daily operations such as deal booking, price contribution, credit/market risk limits checking, internal pricing/funding support to other business lines.
• Monitor daily P&L performance, promptly escalating issues as needed. Contribute to the budgeting process and closely track performance against budget, providing clear explanations of results throughout the year.
• Contribute to collection of wholesale funding, in line with global strategy & targets
Market analysis & value creation
• Maintaining at all times a forward-looking and dynamic (i.e. evolving) view of key macro markets & their evolution (domestic, regional, international), within the ALMT product scope (interest rates, FX, sovereign bond markets).
• Propose and implement market optimization strategies across various asset classes (IRS and CCS, FX swaps, cash, bonds and short - term securities etc.)
• Initiating discussions about opportunities and risks, monitoring activities and exposures, with the objective of achieving P&L targets, while upholding prudential mandate.
• Maintaining constant interaction with market participants (internally and externally) on market dynamics & evolution
Prudential & Governance
• Assist in managing local liquidity ratios and indicators (Liquidity Coverage Requirement, stress tests, etc. liquidity stress test etc) in line with policies (such as, Liquidity Risk Management Policy, ALCO Terms of reference, Intraday Liquidity Management, Liquidity Stress Testing Policy, Liquidity Contingency Plan, etc)
• Assist in managing intraday liquidity for local currency cash clearing activity
• Monitor collateral portfolio (regulatory and Central Bank eligible), both for payment/clearing purposes and for monetization goals
• Contribute to local ALCO preparation and presentation, including but not limited to the Strategic Funding Plan of the branch
Other responsibilities
• Contribute to ALMT and wider Group projects
• Ensure compliance with trader mandate, ALM Treasury policies, risk/credit limits and banking laws
• Contribute to the Permanent Control framework, to manage and mitigate operational and other non-financial risks
• Ensure implementation and regular review of all required processes related to ALM Treasury activities Index Contributions.
• Ensure good communication with various BNPP branches and network, business lines & support functions (middle/back office, Finance…)
• Acting as a reliable business partner to support business development & growth of the Branch
Technical & Behavioral Competencies
• Technical/professional knowledge & proficiency:
- Front office experience and knowledge of financial markets and instruments, and their related macro-economic drivers. Experience of managing bond portfolio or rate-based products will be advantageous
- Ability to create, maintain, and refine forward-looking market views & optimisation strategies for ALMT managed risks
• Strong numerical skills
• Strong Risk Management awareness, astute judgement and attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Team player, collaborative, humble, proactive and enthusiastic self-starter, strong interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of coding language (Python etc.) would be a plus

Education Level: Bachelor Degree or equivalent
Experience Level: At least 5 years
Language Requirements: Fluent Japanese / Business or above level English
