The position at a glance
IT Production is a transversal function which provides all core technologies, production security and applications support to all businesses of the bank in the Americas. The CTO Office covers transversal topics for the department, including governance, budget, staff management, and project management. The Budget Graduate Analyst will be responsible for day-to-day budget and resource monitoring, variance analysis, and reporting improvements for the entire IT Production Americas scope, as well as contributing to Americas contribution to key global initiatives related to budget and resources. They will also be responsible for contributing to budget and resource strategy, including preparing presentations to senior management, liaising with global and local counterparts to align strategy and reporting, enforcing data quality processes related to budget, time-tracking, and expenses, and contributing to other ITP governance, strategy, and CTO Office topics.
In detail
The team members are responsible of the following activities:
- Contributing to annual budget preparation, construction and follow-up, including meeting with SMEs to review and challenge entries, preparing materials to present budget to senior management, integrating management feedback
- Monthly Actuals monitoring and Forecast update: investigating accounting ledger and invoice workflow tools to analyze actuals versus budget/forecast and preparing financial reporting; reviewing variance with SMEs to identify source of discrepancies and address errors if needed. Preparing of deliverables for local and head-office committees on budget analysis including spend vs budget on key projects, headcount by location, and headcount spend by type of employee
- Proposing and implementing of process improvements to enforce data quality, leadership of training on budget/expense tools to IT Production managers, including creation of presentation materials and presenting on budget data quality topics at ITP team meetings and dedicated training sessions.
- Creating and maintaining comprehensive budget & resource management documentation and improving current reporting processes. Monitoring internal reporting for data quality issues and working with ITP colleagues to correct them including reclassing or resubmitting invoices if necessary
- Acting as Clarity tool and time-tracking SPOC for IT Production, including man day and project monitoring, assisting in new project creation in the tool and ensuring accurate data in the tool
Work conditions: This position provides for standard working conditions in an office and a normal work schedule from Monday to Friday.
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or foreign education equivalent in economics, finance, accounting, or equivalent experience in accounting or budget/finance management
Years of experience:
- Internship or co-op experience at bank or working on finance topics at a technology company is preferred
Languages:
- Knowledge of the English is required.*
Technical skills:
- Applicant should have some familiarity with banking operations/financial services and familiarity with general IT and infrastructure processes. Strong technical skills are not required but a capacity to understand the different technologies involved is helpful.
- Strong skills in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBi). Excel strong skills are required (pivot tables, use of formulas). Macro VBA or other automation skills are a plus.
Soft skills:
- Applicant must have strong verbal & written communication skills and attention to detail. Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to collaborate with different teams/departments and across office locations/time zones is required.
- Able to work well under pressure and within short time constraints.
*Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Professional working proficiency in English language is required.
