The position at a glance
If you are interested in gaining exposure to the treasury world, its risk management framework and its models used in finance, adding value to a TOP 10 global organization, and gaining some real-life experience in ALMT RISK management, BNP Paribas is looking for a candidate to help develop its Montreal platform by joining a team of seasoned quantitative new graduates.
RISK ALMT is a special unit within the RISK organization, and This is an internship position within the Montreal RISK ALMT team. The Montreal RISK ALMT team consists of 3 peoples which have a direct report line to Risk ALMT head in New York. The function has 2 principal roles: oversight of Americas ALMT activity including US, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico and validating the ALMT Models under US and Canada Perimeter.

Who are we looking for? People with great technical and soft skills, a keen interest in financial modelling, and a strong desire to learn model risk management best practices.
During your mandate within RISK ALMT, you will:
• Analyze and monitor all risk exposures of the ALM Treasury activities (interest rate, liquidity/funding, and FX risk)
• Oversee compliance with risk limits, investigating excesses and reporting these excesses, the reason for their occurrence, and recommending corrective action to appropriate levels of Management.
• Work to automate the existing reports and apply corrective measures to optimize the procedures.
• Help the Risk ALMT in any other specific tasks such as: analyzing balance sheet, participating in new project implementation.
• Develop internal models for RISK ALMT daily tasks for process automation.
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
• Student completing their master’s in finance, Data Science, Computer science, or any other related quantitative field, with at least one semester remaining.
• Good knowledge of RISK Management Framework.
• Quantitative skills to understand complex products/valuation models.
• The ability to work with and describe large datasets.
• Development tools and languages (Python, R, etc.).
• Rigorous attention to detail and capacity for critical judgement.
• Good communication and synthesis skills in addition to critical thinking capabilities and passion for learning.
• Team-player profile.
• Learning mindset.
• Ability to understand complex and/or technical issues.
• Prioritization of tasks/organization and ability to multi-task.
• Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Knowledge of French and English is required.
