Business Overview:
Global Capital Markets Americas (GCM) bridges Global Markets and Global Banking. GCM integrates all primary origination, financing & syndication and secondary sales, trading & research activities across all CIB credit products into one platform. GCM provides debt origination, structuring & execution to our Americas clients via 3 core business lines: Asset Finance, Investment Grade Finance and Leveraged Finance. GCM maintains a client-centric approach by working closely with Coverage, Global Markets and Advisory.
The Loan Capital Markets team (LCM) is tasked with originating, leading, underwriting, and executing acquisition and plain vanilla finance transactions for BNP Paribas’ banking clients in the Americas. LCM team is part of BNP Paribas’ Investment Grade Finance business line.

Responsibilities:
Loan Capital Markets is looking for a Senior Originator to lead the loan business in the Latam region.
- Origination Leadership:
- Identify, source, and cultivate a pipeline of high‑quality loan opportunities across Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Argentina, and other key LATAM markets.
- Drive the full deal lifecycle—from prospecting and relationship building to credit analysis, term‑sheet negotiation, and transaction closing—ensuring alignment with bank strategy and risk appetite.
- Deal Structuring & Execution:
- Design and negotiate complex multi‑currency, multi‑tranche financing structures (term loans, revolving facilities, bridge loans, ESG‑linked loans, etc.) tailored to client needs and regional regulatory environments.
- Lead cross‑functional deal teams (legal, risk, product specialists, treasury, compliance, and credit) to deliver seamless execution and timely funding.
- Credit & Risk Management:
- Conduct rigorous credit underwriting, financial modeling, and stress‑testing of borrowers, incorporating macro‑economic, political, and sector‑specific risks unique to LATAM.
- Present credit proposals to the Credit Committee and senior credit risk committees, securing approvals and ensuring ongoing portfolio monitoring and risk mitigation.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the senior point of contact for C‑suite executives, treasurers, and investment officers of corporates, financial institutions, sovereign entities.
- Deepen existing relationships and expand the bank’s footprint by cross‑selling complementary banking products (Bonds, FX, derivatives, cash management, trade finance, advisory).
- Market & Competitive Intelligence:
- Track and interpret regional market trends, regulatory changes, political developments, and competitive dynamics to proactively shape product offerings and pricing strategies.
- Provide senior management with actionable insights and market outlooks to inform strategic planning and product development.
- Team Development & Leadership:
- Mentor and develop senior vice presidents, associate directors, and analysts within the LCM Origination team, fostering a high‑performance culture focused on collaboration, ethical conduct, and client‑centricity.
- Champion diversity, inclusion, and talent pipelines to build a team that reflects the multicultural nature of the region.
- Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure all origination activities adhere to global banking policies, anti‑money‑laundering (AML) standards, sanctions regimes, and local regulatory requirements (e.g., Brazil’s CVM, Mexico’s CNBV).
- Oversee documentation quality, risk‑adjusted pricing, and post‑closing covenant compliance, escalating issues promptly to relevant oversight bodies.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- 10 - 15 years of previous work experience at a major financial institution in loan syndication, leveraged finance, acquisition financing, and corporate banking
- Experience in originating, structuring, and executing lead financing mandates for acquisition/event-driven & plain vanilla deals in Latam, as well as strong structuring & credit skills
- University Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline
- Knowledge of the LSTA/LMA (or equivalent) standard loan documentation
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and inter-personal skills
- Ability to think critically and problem-solving abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, Excel office software
- Fluent English and Spanish (required)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional languages is a plus e.g. Portuguese, French

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $250,000 to $280,000 annually. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business line, and geographic/office location.
