Cardif Japan is a key subsidiary of BNP Paribas Cardif, specializing in life and non-life insurance products tailored to the Japanese market. Established in 2000, it focuses on innovative bancassurance solutions through partnerships with banks and financial institutions

There are 2 distinct Japanese entities: Cardif Assurance Vie Japan (カーディフ生命保険株式会社) and Cardif Assurances Risques Divers Japan (カーディフ損害保険株式会社) but the IT systems are common.

Cardif partners with over 50 banks and 20 non-bank financial firms, offering credit life insurance with cancer riders, mortgage loan protections, credit card coverage, and savings account guarantees. Innovations cover heart attacks, strokes, cancers, …

Headquartered at Shibuya in the heart of Tokyo, Cardif Japan employs around 180 internal staff (around 35 internal IT staff.). Additionally to these 35 internal staff, we work with external vendors located in our office or offshore, and other BNPP teams located in Singapore , Hong Kong , France and India. 

The IT department is split into 4 teams : IT Service Delivery (production, run, infrastructure), Security Organization & Risks (SOR: CIO office and security/continuity), Digital Systems (DS: partner and client facing applications) and Core Insurance Systems (CIS: core systems like underwriting, claims and policy management systems).  The IT department is in charge of providing solutions for other departments of Cardif Japan , for partners and for clients.

 

Description of the activities

BNP Paribas Cardif Japan is looking for a junior IT project manager (the position) for its IT department to support the transformation projects that are currently in progress.

There are various projects of various sizes, and the internal teams are busy to deliver these projects. 

The main activities for the position would consist in the collection of information needed to have the global view of the projects, their presentation, the suggestion of ideas or remediation to ensure projects stay on track, the communication with various internal teams to make the materials. Some tasks also may be given directly to the position.

The position is a fixed-term assignment in SOR under CIO which has transversal IT activities. The position will get followed on weekly basis, to help for the onboarding and the follow-up of the different tasks. A positive performance would give opportunities in our entity as well as in other entities of BNP Paribas.

Reporting to the head of SOR and within the SOR department, you will be given various tasks to help CIO Office initiatives:

  • Develop IT cost reporting tools to monitor and analyze IT costs on management views 
  • Collect and report various IT costs using the developed reporting tools
  • Collect and report various IT KPIs on monthly basis
  • Communicate with various stakeholders to deliver the IT KPIs in timely manner
  • Maintain IT KPI tools to make them effective and efficient 
  • Follow-up IT action backlogs of various IT processes and report them on monthly basis; obsolescence management, risk & remediation action management, architecture reservation management, vulnerability management, and so on
  • Develop an integrated IT action backlogs follow-up process, tool and write a manual document 
  • Communicate with various stakeholders to report the status of their action backlogs, risks and bottlenecks

The list of tasks and activities are indicative, because we realign our priorities frequently.

 

Required skills

Most of the work is in English, but speaking Japanese, Chinese or French are additional assets.

Ideally, the candidate would have already spent 4 years at university or in an engineering school, specialized in IT. The candidate would be comfortable for communication (oral and written), with a good sense of synthesis and a very good self-organization to be able to work on various tasks simultaneously.  Be concise, writing mails with the right level of details depending on the stakeholders, the knowledge of Office suite, and the positive attitude are needed.

Hourly wage: 1,400 JPY

This position is open to students only. If an internship agreement between the school and Cardif is required, we are able to accommodate it.
