Your Role at BNP Paribas Fortis
As Head of Operational Permanent Control (OPC) for Corporate Banking Domestic Markets, you will lead a team of risk management experts responsible for safeguarding operational resilience within the Corporate Banking division. This role sits within the first line of defense in operational risk, ensuring robust controls, proactive risk mitigation, and alignment with regulatory and internal standards.
Your mission is to bridge the gap between risk management and business operations, fostering a culture of accountability while enabling sustainable growth. By leveraging deep process knowledge and strategic oversight, you will drive continuous improvement, ensuring operational risks remain within defined tolerances.
Key Responsibilities
As the leader of OPC4 Corporate Banking Domestic Markets, you engage with your team to monitor and report on the operational and regulatory risk performance of the Corporate Banking Domestic Markets division.
You ensure the proper execution of the control plan.
You manage your team by ensuring their expertise and follow-up of their day-to-day tasks.
You engage within the OPC organization by sharing your business knowledge and by contributing to the end-to-end OPC activities.
You build a strong partnership with your business partner by providing relevant and actionable feedback in their management forums and by assisting the business in their efforts to improve their operational resilience.
Your Profile

Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in operational risk management, internal control, or audit, preferably within financial services.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a specialized domain.
- Analytical and critical thinking, with the ability to distill complex risks into clear, actionable insights.
- Proactive and collaborative mindset, with a track record of building trust with business partners.
- Strong communication skills, including persuasive presentation and reporting (verbal/written) for senior audiences.
- Process-oriented approach, with an eye for end-to-end risk connectivity.
- Leadership by example, inspiring your team to excel while aligning with organizational goals.
- Client-centric focus, balancing risk objectives with business needs.
Valued Assets:
- Familiarity with Corporate Banking operations, products, or risk frameworks (or willingness to rapidly acquire domain expertise).
- Fluency in Dutch, French, and English (business proficiency required).
