Opis
Within Legal, the team Legal Invest consists of 5 (senior) lawyers who provide legal support to the retail, private banking and wealth management business in the areas of investment and insurance services, the distribution of financial products, the activities of family offices, estate planning and safe custody of financial instruments.
The legal support covers a vast range of advisory services. The team provides project related work in relation to the implementation of new legislation according to the agile working method in close collaboration with the business and allowing for a lean and compliant client journey. The team further assumes responsibility for drafting legal documentation and managing legal risks including litigation risk. The team ensures the legal watch within its scope of expertise and plays an active role in legal advocacy actions to the benefit of the sector.
The Legal Manager Invest reports to the Head of Legal Daily Banking & Invest who reports to the Head of Legal BNP Paribas Fortis and is a member of the Legal Management Team.
Your future job
As Legal Manager Invest:
- You manage the Legal Invest team, taking care of all people management tasks and in particular the professional development, coaching, motivation and empowerment of each of the team members;
- You foster collaboration within your team and across teams within the legal department and within Group Legal BNP Paribas;
- You assure the roll-out of the annual roadmap for the legal department within your team; you promote state-of-the art legal expertise and know how, effective deployment of resources and operational efficiency incl. standardization and digitalization of the legal services;
- You build and maintain good relationships with business management and other key stakeholders so as to facilitate the collaboration; you develop an effective external network with peers of other financial institutions and participate in work groups of industry associations;
- You provide legal advice on complex and sensitive cases and projects, as well as on strategic policy matters, and you supervise the legal analyses carried out by the team members;
- You ensure an adequate legal risk management incl. the anticipation, identification, management and control of legal risks and their reporting to the senior management of the bank, Group Legal BNP Paribas and the external auditors;
- You participate in the overall management of the legal department through active participation in the Extended Management Team, composed of all team managers and senior legal managers
Highlight your strengths
- You have a Master in law
- You are a Senior lawyer with minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in the banking sector or a leading law firm, particularly in the field of investment products and services.
- You have experience in people and project management.
- You are proficient in French, Dutch and English (oral and written)
- You embrace team collaboration and place the interests of your team above your own interest;
- You have strong communication skills, both orally and in writing and you can convincingly defend legal positions with senior business management;
- You anticipate legal risks and ensure business management awareness; you rigorously follow up on legal risks and adequately report on these risks to the relevant stakeholders
- You support and empower your team members in change processes; you embrace new opportunities.
