About BNP Paribas Corporate and Institutional Banking in Mexico
BNP Paribas Corporate and Institutional Banking has had a representation office in Mexico since 1966. Since then BNP Paribas has played an important role in financing Mexico’s development into the 21st century. BNP Paribas was one of the founders of Banco Nacional de Mexico (Banamex), one of Mexico’s largest banks, at the end of the 19th century, and stayed as a minority shareholder until the nationalization of the banking system in 1982. BNP was first established in Mexico more than half a century ago also acting as an important shareholder in Banco del Atlántico until 1982
BNP Paribas Mexico is expanding and has started operating in 2021 a full-fledged Mexican bank to better serve its clients through local operations performing local and global markets activities. Operations out of BNP Paribas Mexico include in particular trading and market making activities on interest rate derivatives, forex (spot and forward), bonds, repos and reverse repos on MBonos, UDI and Bonos. The coverage activities focusing on Mexican corporate and institutional clients will remain and expand.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role ensures that HR processes, controls, and risk management activities are designed, documented, and operating effectively in alignment with BNP Paribas standards, local labor and privacy regulations, and HR operational requirements.
This position will work together with HR and closely with legal, Compliance, and other Risk functions to maintain a strong control environment, enhance RH governance, and drive continuous improvement in risk and compliance processes.
Comply with all applicable regulations (local or those defined by Group) and BNPP internal policies, this includes but is not limited to Financial Security, Know Your Client/Costumer/Supplier, Due Diligence, Client Interest Protection, Market Integrity, Professional Ethics and Respect for colleagues.

Operational Risk Management and Governance:
- Analyze operational risk incidents with the HR team.
- Ensure appropriate action plans are developed and implemented to improve processes and prevent incidents.
- Responsible for the creation and maintenance of Risk and Control Self-Assessment regarding various domains (Operational Risk, Compliance, Anti bribery and corruption, Personal Data Protection, etc.).
- Responsible for the update and harmonization of the HR Risk Taxonomy.
- Responsible for the HR Risk Control Library.
- Liaison for Business Continuity strategies regarding HR.
- Be exposed to HR Management and Senior Management for regular presentations on Controls and Risk, Audit and Remuneration Committee.
- Provide the required information to HR teams on operational risk matters (audit related queries, etc.).
- Act as primary liaison between HR and the ORC teams.
Permanent Control:
- Coordinate the full deployment of the Group HR control plan.
- Ensure execution of BNPP Group HR control plan, as well as local controls and waivers.
- Monitor the execution on an ongoing basis of all HR controls identified in the control plan.
- Analyse the permanent control framework and design improvements where relevant.
- Ensure all HR procedures are reviewed and updated by the HR team in a timely manner.
- Review and understand Group policies to identify major changes affecting the region, or the need to transpose documentation locally.
- Develop and monitor key risk indicators and other management information tools.
- Understand local regulatory requirements.
- Implement and maintain Personal Data Protection initiatives, such as ROPAs, DPIAs, Indicators, etc.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports.
- Perform controls level 1c.
- Reporting of risks, controls, action plans, incidents, indicators and others in different systems according to the scope.
- Responsible to perform controls for the daily screening Process (Employee Screening) and Candidates Screening process in accordance to local procedure.
Risk awareness:
- Promote best practices in terms of operational risk management.
- Train HR teams on operational risk.
Audit and Regulatory Requirements:
- Coordination and preparation of evidence for different reviews on HR processes performed locally or globally from Risk Management, IG, and other internal or external reviewers, including Regulators.
- Track all recommendations and assist relevant HR teams in the remediation effort, as needed.
- Update all open recommendations in Risk360, or any applicable system.
- Alert Senior HR Management and/or Risk Management in case of delay potentially impacting the ability to close the recommendations.
- Track audit closure progress.
- Participation in Regulatory Committees.
- Coordination, preparation and follow up on AMIB licenses for all required employees to comply with local regulation.
- Provide information required by local regulators in monthly basis or case by case.
Competencies and Experience
- +7 Years of experience supporting HR functions.
- Experience in Financial Services or Regulated Industries.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education.
- Understanding of risk management frameworks, audit processes, and HR compliance requirements (employment law, privacy, third-party risk).
- Good verbal and written communication in English and Spanish
- Ability to operate autonomously.
- Ability to work as part of a multicultural team.
- Analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of HR processes in the financial sector a plus
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel and Power Point)
