About Business line/Function: ARVAL Service Lease

Arval is a car renting company with Services, for professional entities and more recently, opened to retail market. Serving 30 countries worldwide with the goal of being the best in class both for customer satisfaction and innovation (Partnership, new technologies, etc.)

Arval IT is the IT department of the company.  The IT Production Tribe is a key component of the Arval IT department, focusing on several critical areas to support the company's operations. This tribe is structured into 4 domains :

 

  • Production security domain: Manage the security on Production : Security Monitoring, Advanced Malware Protection, Secure network, Secure Hosting, Security Data Warehouse / Dashboards, DLP Technical, Service Design Validation, Privileged Access Control, Vulnerability Management, Production Security project management, Production Resilience
  • Application Production domain: This domain operates daily over 200 business applications that make up Arval's information system. The main goal is to ensure the smooth functioning and support of these applications, addressing any issues that arise and implementing improvements as needed.
  • Infrastructure Domain: Manage, Deploy and support Arval infrastructure hosted in BNPP Datacenter. Define and Enrich Infrastructure service catalog, anticipate infrastructure capacity planning and integrate security and compliance requirements. The infrastructure domain consists of 4 teams : Network, Digital Working, Windows, Storage&Virtualisation
  • Technical Office Domain: contributes to the preparation and validation of Project Architecture Overview (PAO), drives obsolescence, manage Production Cloud competency center and provide technology expertise (ExaCC, Secure Transport…).

Position Purpose

The IT OPS / MCP engineer purpose is to keep our middleware/cloud platform in optimal operation state. Be the first point of contact regarding incident and request regarding this scope. Having a close relationship with development teams. Be able to propose innovative and resilient architecture and platform In order to support ARVAL business growth. Install these platforms and install target applications onto it. 

 

Being able to automate recurring activities to avoid human errors and subsequent incident is a key activity for us. We also need to ensure proactive platform monitoring and create needed alerting in order to fix incoming incident as soon as they occurs. 

 

Technical expertise, Team work, knowledge sharing, adaptability to multiple technologies, proactivity, automation knowledge are key qualities in order to achieve our mission. 

 

Responsibilities

 

Direct Responsibilities

 

-          Platform Operations  – Apply patching and make configuration changes to application platforms following L3 recommendation and using related procedure.

 

-          Troubleshooting – Be the first point of contact on high priority incident on all environments and technology of application production scope. Use all tools and technical knowledge available to ensure incident resolution and avoid re-occurrence. 

 

-          Manage SNOW backlog and ensure to answer in a timely manner to any end users requests and other ARVAL IT Teams. Synthetize needs for automation to L3 people in order to improve incident and requests closure faster and avoid any human error for future similar cases. 

 

-          Application Deployment – Ensure the deployment of application and middleware that can’t be automated for release management. 

 

-          Security and Processes – Follow security guidelines while implementing request or during incident resolution. Follow internal processes (change/Problem/Incident Management) in order to ensure the level of quality expected.

 

-          Devops – be the first point of contact with our ARVAL IT colleague in DEV Tribes. Understand their application and how our application landscape is able to deliver our business need. Be able to comprehend why a deployment pipeline is failing and have a moderate understanding on how application / middleware and operating are working together to provide a service. 

 

-          Proactive Monitoring and alerting – Using Dynatrace tool, perform a proactive monitoring of MCP assets. With monitoring team support, put in place any monitoring and alerting needed in order to improve incident early detection and improve overall QOS.

 

 

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

Be autonomous on his asset (Senior to expert level) and motivated on the daily tasks.

Be an active member of the squad (often multi-technologies). 

Be proactive by raising alerts when it’s flagged, try to understand the global context and suggest how to solve an issue (without focusing only on his subpart). it will also help to understand better the rest of the team (who will not necessarily work on the same tool)

Have proper communication with the Business. (English language)

Provide his technical expertise to suggest optimization and technical enhancements

Apprehend the global business interaction between all ARVAL application landscape

Being to be the first point of contact with development people and understanding their needs

Feed incident and request ticket with detailed and useful information and escalate to subsequent level of support and ensure a good transition and resolution

Specific Technical skills required for this role:

Ø  Strong operating system knowledge (Expert Linux and Moderate Windows expertise)

Ø  Strong knowledge on java based applications and specifically on Weblogic middleware

Ø  A good understanding on container based application deployment and moderate command line and WEBUI interaction with these platform (Tanzu, IBM Cloud, AWS…)

Ø  Solid troubleshooting capacities on hybrid applications and multiple technologies. Being able to understand applications logs, operating system behavior, middleware configuration and monitoring tools metrics meaning.

Ø  Moderate to strong production knowledge on some of these technologies: Linux, Windows, Docker and all cloud related components, Weblogic, JAVA, Jenkins, Ansible, Tanzu, .NET, Apache, NGINX, Dynatrace, Scripting (Bash, Python)
