The APAC Business Implementation function is responsible for the custody onboarding, ongoing maintenance & offboarding of all core custody management activities for our regional clients. Using a proven methodology, we manage implementations across diverse client sectors, delivering a superior client experience while accelerating revenue generation for the bank.
Position Purpose:
The Senior Client Referential data management associate at BNP Paribas leads the end‑to‑end management of custody account creation, modifications and closures across the APAC region. Operating independently yet in close partnership with senior stakeholders in Client Implementation, Product, Operations, Legal, Risk and Client Service, the analyst drives the complete onboarding journey—including the CDP account creation’s, Journal posting, SWIFT reporting management, FX‑service setups Etc, By analysing client data, assessing risk, ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory and internal policies, and communicating clear status updates to both internal teams and external clients, the analyst guarantees a smooth, compliant transition and ongoing administration for a diverse clientele of asset managers, pension funds, mutual funds, government entities and other institutional investors. In addition to delivering high‑quality client service, the senior analyst mentors junior team members, identifies process‑improvement opportunities, becoming a subject matter expert and contributes to the development of best‑practice standards, positioning the role as a key driver of operational excellence and growth within BNP Paribas’ Custody Services business.
Responsibilities
• Own the end‑to‑end processing and validation of requests for account creations, updating and closure; verify and authorise data entered in internal systems with a focus on precision and timeliness by becoming SME of the process
• Interpret and apply current banking regulations, internal policies and risk‑management frameworks to every request; continuously monitor regulatory updates and promptly elevate any control‑related issues.
• Design and orchestrate connectivity, SWIFT linkages, standing‑instruction setups and other operational prerequisites to achieve a fully‑functional custody environment (SWIFT, internal sites, external parties).
•Setting up FX standing‑instruction requests, interest‑rate settings and Inbound/outbound BIC setups etc.,
• Deliver a client‑service‑focused approach in all interactions; respond to queries within agreed SLA terms and guarantee that all documentation, risk checks and approvals meet BNP Paribas standards.
•Collaborate with IT teams to troubleshoot system feed issues and ensure timely resolution.
•Responding to client inquiries by coordinating with relevant internal and external stakeholders and addressing it on time.
Technical & Behavioural Competencies
· Data Management & Validation – Advanced Excel (pivot tables, Formulas) and the ability to reconcile large data sets with zero tolerance for errors.
· Financial Messaging Standards – Deep knowledge of SWIFT (MT/MX) and ISO 20022 message formats; able to design, test and validate messaging configurations for custodial transactions.
· Risk & Control Systems – Extensive experience with internal risk‑assessment and control‑monitoring solutions); able to perform comprehensive control checks, generate exception reports and implement remediation actions.
· Effective Communication – Clearly articulates complex regulatory or technical information to senior clients, regulators and cross‑functional teams, adapting the message to each audience.
· Accountability & Integrity – Takes full ownership of deliverables, upholds the highest compliance and ethical standards, and escalates risk issues transparently and promptly.
· Leadership & Mentoring – Guides junior analysts, shares best practices and drives continuous‑improvement initiatives across the onboarding function.
· Strategic Problem‑Solving – Anticipates potential bottlenecks, formulates proactive solutions and makes informed decisions that balance client needs with regulatory and business constraints.
Specific Qualifications:
· Overall required Experience of 4 to 6 Years in Investment Banking
· Minimum of 3 years in Client Referential data management
