Job Title: Supplier Risk Analyst - Associate

DepartmentP&P SSC – TPRM Operations

About Business line/Function: Non-CIB

Position Purpose: The primary responsibility of this role is to conduct comprehensive supplier assessments throughout the contract lifecycle to mitigate financial, strategic, reputational, and legal risks for BNPP.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive risk evaluations for both new supplier onboarding and the continuous monitoring of existing suppliers.
  • Assess multi-dimensional risks, including financial stability (liquidity/solvency), economic dependency, financial security, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
  • Evaluate compliance and operational risks, specifically focusing on GDPR, IT/Cybersecurity, and general Operational Risk.
  • Identify potential financial failures or high-risk dependencies between suppliers and the Group.
  • Facilitate Risk Sourcing Committees by coordinating with Group Strategic Sourcing, Entity Procurement Heads, Compliance, Legal, and Risk departments.
  • Review and analyze Group and Entity-level risk exposure to ensure alignment with the organizational risk appetite.
  • Manage the lifecycle of supplier watchlists, including the accurate entry and exit of entities based on updated risk profiles
  • Collaborate with Procurement teams to define, implement, and monitor supplier remediation plans.
  • Provide on-demand supplier risk assessments to support Buyers in procurement decision-making.
  • Deliver professional risk opinions and actionable insights during critical or high-impact supplier situations.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization to enhance the efficiency of the TPRM lifecycle.

 

 

Direct Responsibilities

  • Sanctions & AML Screening: Conduct deep-dive screening of suppliers against global sanctions lists (OFAC, EU, UN) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.
  • UBO Identification: Perform detailed investigations into Ultimate Beneficial Ownership (UBO) to ensure transparency and prevent conflict of interest or shell company risks.
  • Regulatory Horizon Scanning: Stay updated on evolving global regulations (such as the EU Supply Chain Due Diligence Directive) to ensure KYS processes remain compliant.
  • PEP Screening: Monitor and assess risks associated with Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) within supplier ownership structures.
  • Monitor real-time alerts, adverse media, and critical information regarding the supplier landscape.
  • Utilize advanced Open-Source Intelligence techniques to detect negative news or reputational threats in multiple languages or local jurisdictions.

Contributing Responsibilities

  • Ensure the integrity of internal and external risk management tools by maintaining real-time data updates based on performed assessments.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of KYS processes, workflows, and methodologies.

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge of Know Your Supplier (KYS), KYC, and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) regulations.
  • Proven expertise in Risk Assessment methodologies and the application of a Risk-Based Approach (RBA).
  • Advanced proficiency in Ultimate Beneficial Ownership (UBO/BO) identification and verification procedures.
  • Ability to perform financial health assessments, including the review of balance sheets and financial statements.
  • Experience in conducting sanctions screening, PEP (Politically Exposed Persons) identification, and adverse media monitoring.
  • Proficiency in utilizing risk management platforms, screening databases, and MS Excel for data analysis.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to follow through on tasks.
  • Methodical, analytical, and highly organized with superior problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate risk findings clearly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, demonstrating the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • High level of professional skepticism and an investigative mindset to identify "red flags."
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict regulatory deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

 

Specific Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in Risk & Control, Compliance, or Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM).
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA, or similar risk management credentials) are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in conducting due diligence within a regulated financial services environment.
