The position at a glance
The Credit Transaction Management Transversal team is part of Operations under Global Banking. The team manages and mitigates credit risk and operational risk across several axes with continual review, enhancement, and deployment of controls to ensure adherence to the evolving regulatory environment, firm policies and procedures, and industry best practices.
In detail
The team members are responsible of the following activities:
Primary (Main) Duties :
- Legal Documentation Management
- Verify receipt of all required legal documents.
- Upload documents to the local repository and keep the tracking log current.
- Input/validate documents, covenants, and guarantee information in risk systems.
- Source and update covenant documentation in the internal tool.
- Perform conformity checks on documentation for “Watchlist” or “Doubtful” clients.
- Risk & Compliance Monitoring
- Track and monitor security interests.
- Review legal documents for potential notes pledged to the Federal Reserve (BIC) when requested.
- Alert Front Office and Risk teams of covenant defaults and loan‑margin adjustments.
- Operational Support
- Respond to legal document/file requests and related questions.
- Complete depository forms for physical collateral stored in the vault.
- Investigate and answer subpoena searches from the legal department.
Secondary (Supporting) Duties :
- Data Quality & Reporting
- Monitor daily/weekly/monthly exception and data‑quality reports.
- Follow up on credit‑decision receipts and resolve core system data‑quality issues with data owners.
- Prepare and circulate internal exposure/control reports (e.g., Past‑Due Reviews, Watchlist, Provisions).
- Periodic Control & Escalation
- Perform periodic controls and escalation for new, amended, and renewal facilities (covenants, guarantees, legal docs).
- System Data Entry
- Input data for annual reviews, internal client ratings, capital‑market lines, guarantees, insurance, and collateral for securitization programs.
- Record tangible‑guarantee valuations on the required schedule (annual, semi‑annual, quarterly).
- Transaction & Payment Processing
- Authorize loan drawdown requests and Letter of Credit issuances.
- Process payments for perfection‑service invoices and review private‑insurance premiums.
Additional Responsibilities :
- Assess and perform monthly and quarterly attestation in ORUS application
- Monitor daily activity in Hobart
- Maintenance of procedures
- Identify ways to improve and create process efficiencies
- Participate in cross training
- Assist in the training of new team members
- Participate in various projects including UAT (user acceptance tests)
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
· Bachelor’s degree is required
· 2-3 years’ relevant experience in corporate banking documentation and/or strong knowledge of banking products and practices including and understanding of loan structure, terms, and credit agreement
· English is required*
· Experience in Middle Office and/or Operations environment preferable
· Microsoft Office advanced technical skills (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) Power Bi, Power query a plus
· Knowledge of LoanIQ a plus
· Highly effective communicator, written and oral, with good interpersonal skills
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
· Analytical and problem-solving mindset
· Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and manage workflow in a changing deadline driven environment
· Ability to work Canada holidays not shared with the U.S. when necessary
· Ability to work overtime when necessary
* Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Knowledge of English is required.
