The position at a glance
Within the Americas Compliance COO’s organization, this is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join the Data Governance team. The successful candidate will report to the Data Governance team manager and work on a range of data governance initiatives within Americas Compliance.
This data Governance Specialist is responsible for working closely with Compliance, IT, Middle Office, and Back Office operations, and other Functions to evaluate systems and data used by Compliance for purposes of understanding the lineage from source system to the monitoring application(s) with the objective of identifying and implementing completeness and quality controls over the key data elements (KDEs). The analyst will triage identified issues, conduct analysis to determine business impact, and work closely with business stakeholders and IT to determine root cause and fix issues at source.
In detail
- Performs daily reviews of data quality monitoring reports and escalates issues as needed
- Performs root cause analysis, identifying patterns of issues and works with IT to remediate
- Investigates data completeness and quality issues related to Key Data Elements (KDEs) and collaborates with Business Analysts for tactical and strategic solutions
- Performs data lineage and data profiling analyses for Key Data Elements (KDEs)
- Establishes and maintains a cartography of all data sources, and the accompanying product transactions, feeding the monitoring applications
- Acts as the key point of contact and liaison for data issues within the Compliance Data Governance program
- Prepares and analyzes metrics and other related reports for senior management and for the Compliance Data Governance domain
- Prepares and presents monthly summary of key domain items to senior management, clearly articulating business impact of highlighted items
- Develops and maintains data governance controls and reconciliations
- Evaluates and recommends automation of daily BAU processes
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
- 5+ years of experience with a financial services firm and/or self-regulatory organization in a compliance, Technology or regulatory related position
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with other Function staff and management
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to clearly articulate messaging at a senior-management level
- Advanced analytical and investigative skills; analyzes complete datasets and recommends tactical and strategic solutions
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives at the same time and meet deadlines
- Understanding of data quality concepts, including data profiling and lineage and data tracing of issues to root cause
- Understanding of database structures / ETL processing / SQL ability to write queries & SharePoint
- Professional certification in Data Management, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence or other data-related fields a plus
- Experience with Actimize, SMARTS, SWIFT, DataIQ, Alteryx, and/or Collibra applications a plus
- Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Knowledge of the English is required
