The Role

 

We’re recruiting an Application Production Support (APS) Engineer to join a busy enterprise IT team supporting critical business applications. This role focuses on monitoring application performance, managing production incidents, and ensuring systems remain stable and available for users.

 

You’ll play a key role in diagnosing and resolving technical issues, working closely with internal teams and third-party providers, while using Dynatrace to proactively monitor system performance and identify root causes of incidents.

 

This is a great opportunity for someone with application or production support experience who enjoys troubleshooting, working in fast-paced environments, and developing their expertise in monitoring and observability tools within a large, regulated organisation.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Application Support - Deliver 1st and 2nd line technical and functional support for business-critical applications, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently.
  • Manage and Own Production Incidents - Take ownership of incidents from initial triage through to resolution, providing clear updates to stakeholders and escalating where required.
  • Ownership of Application Performance Monitoring Using Dynatrace - Proactively create and monitor system performance reporting, investigate alerts, and identify root causes of application or service issues, perform and report on error budgeting.
  • Collaborate with Internal Teams and Third Parties - Work closely with development teams, infrastructure teams, and external vendors to diagnose and resolve technical problems.
  • Maintain Documentation and Knowledge Base - Create and update support procedures, troubleshooting guides, and operational documentation to support service improvement.
  • Support Operational Stability and Compliance - Assist with system monitoring, backups, access controls, and audit requirements to ensure applications remain secure and reliable

 

Skills & Attributes

  • Dynatrace / Application Monitoring Experience - Hands-on experience using and building Dynatrace monitoring (or similar APM tools) to monitor performance, investigate alerts, and support root cause analysis. Monitoring Cloud based solutions and FinTech experience would be ideal.
  • Incident Management & Troubleshooting Ability - Strong problem-solving skills with experience managing production incidents, triaging issues, and driving resolutions in a live environment.
  • Customer-Focused Communication - Ability to explain technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders while maintaining high service standards.
  • Strong Organisation & Ownership - Able to manage multiple support requests, prioritise effectively, and take accountability for seeing issues through to completion.
  • Team Collaboration & Adaptability - Comfortable working with cross-functional teams and third-party providers, with a flexible approach suited to a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment.
