F08 - FINANCE ACCOUNTS AND MANAGEMENT CONTROL

Description

 The Senior Fund Accountant - Private Capital plays a critical role in the Private Capital team. Reporting to the Manager of the PERE department, the role provides technical expertise and reviewing function with respect to Private Capital Administration services delivered to the BNP Paribas Client Base. 

 The role is responsible for supporting the Manager of the Private Capital delivery of the strategic plan to grow the business and optimize the product offering and related services for all Private Capital Clients. It will include the technical support for all regulatory and statutory change as well as the creation of a new "end to end" operating model for the Private Capital activities, especially for GP (General Partner) Services.

The Senior Fund Accountant for Private Capital will drive and support business change and business improvements process. The role is responsible for review and provides technical support and input for any process re-engineering. They will perform an oversight role for any Private Capital project related activities. The role will cover a transition period where the Senior Fund Accountant is expected to assist the team in building a new services model.

 Governance and operational tasks maybe required as the team grow and will include the review and delivery of the following activities: 
* Oversight and controls for all process, recording and control of capital calls, distributions, subscriptions, redemptions and transfers of shares/units
 * Verification of collected documents with regards to distribution calculations and any other payments towards investors
 * Authorisation of and validation of any capital event
 * Ensure all PERE transactions have been executed on the dedicated platforms 
* Review and analysis of documents received in relation to any direct or indirect investments before processing/instructing the related payments
 * Analysis of transactions' counterparts from an AML/KYC/FATCA perspective
 * Reconciliation of assets and market valuations
* Preparation of client reporting on a monthly/quarterly basis
* Assist in the on boarding of new assets including system setup, review of documentation, and liaising with related internal and external counterparties in a timely manner
 * Project and restructure work

 This role will support the Private Capital Corporate Account Manager to for any on boarding and transitions as well as Year-end and periodic planning processes to ensure a consistent and sustainable operating model. 

 In addition, the Senior Fund Accountant where required, will actively participate in senior, strategic Client meetings along with the manager/ head of Private Capital, and/or Relationship Management and will provide any input requested for the RFP process for New Business in association with the Sales and Relationship Management team and may represent BNP Paribas' services and product offering as required during the tender and due diligence process. They are subsequently responsible for ensuring the operational implementation of any service delivery changes to meet client needs

 Support to Business development activities by:
 * Assist on the development and implement an initial business plan in line with Global Private Capital model
 * Provide support to Business Development and Product Management in the implementation of the new target operating model 
 * Support and contribute to the Manager and the Head of Private Capital preparing for services marketing effort, including sales pitch books, marketing material, presentations and event preparations to both asset owners and asset managers
 * Support the development of Asset Servicing model for the Private Capital services including maintenance of records for Transfer Agencies, General Partner and Fund Managers 
 * Overall administration and governance of the activities for the Private Capital locally and globally

 Product & solution development activities will include:
 * Manage the governance and control for the implementation of the Private Capital Services procedures, checklists and controls for both asset owners and asset managers 
 * Maintain framework and ready to go data to enable support to Product & Solution Management for all Private Capital activities linked to enhance the General Partner services
 * Coordinate the strategic plan designed by the Head of the Private Capital and provide assistance on the engagement with the Regional (Asia Pac) development and the Global Private Capital committees

Reporting and operational responsibilities will include the following activities:
 * Oversight of the processing of all Private Capital data and production of outputs to clients in order to maintain high standards of quality and timeliness
 * Access and validate of documents received in relation to any new direct or indirect investments 
 * Implementation of any service delivery changes to meet client needs
 * Manage the system upgrade projects and data management for the global change advisory board for the global Private Capital community

 INDIVIDUAL LEADERSHIP:
 * Active participation in senior client and relationship management meetings where required
* Management, oversight and controls for all processes related to recording of capital calls, distributions, valuations and secondary purchases/sales
 * Validation for all activities related to transaction processing and carrying out our 'business as usual' tasks
 * Operational leadership of change incorporating Client requirements, process reviews and providing technical expertise on process re-engineering 
 * Full service delivery in line with the clients SLA's and internal KPI's
 * Take charge of onboarding new clients, restructures, product development, statutory and regulatory change
 * Supporting the overall service delivery via cross-team co-operation
 * Act as a conduit of change for business, IT and client projects across the organisation
 * Actively contribute and participate in all Culture and Leadership initiatives
 * Responsibility for ensuring the education, implementation and compliance with BNP Paribas policies
 * Ability to adapt to change, and to approach team and organizational changes with an innovative approach 
 * Influencing the desired culture of flexibility, accountability and openness to change and leading by example

 CLIENT SERVICE:
 * First point of contact for all client queries in relation to all aspects of their Private Capital assets
 * Active participation in senior client meetings as well as technical escalation point for client issues or changes
 * Governance of Year-End financial reporting to meet specific client SLA terms
 * Ensure implementation of operational risk and legislative requirements in all output
 * Work closely with product specialists and portfolio managers to develop and maintain relationships with existing clients and prospects 
 * Client onboarding, preparing client communication material, and responses to RFP's leading to new business generation

 COMMERCIAL FOCUS 
 * Analysis, innovation, development and implementation of change and process improvement 
* Exposure to broad range of investing strategies including Fund of Funds, Direct and Co-Investment, especially within GP Services (General Partners - Fund Managers)
 * Maintain and monitor the CIB2S Risk Control Framework for the services provided to clients, including formal supervision and working closely with Risk and Compliance, identifying potential risks and developing controls to mitigate them
 * Through influence and delivery across the business be seen as a Private Capital expert for the Client Delivery team, becoming the go-to person for GP Services

 Technical Skills, Qualifications and Experience required for the role:  

 EXPERIENCE
 * Extensive experience within the financial services industry (alternative investment preferred)
 * Proven track record within Fund Administration 
 * Proven change management and process improvement capability, and the ability to create and implement solutions 
 * A strong technical background incorporating aspects of valuation of Private Capital assets, impacts on fund accounting, unit pricing, and reporting
 * Excellent attention to detail
 * Competent strategic thinker with the ability to create and implement solutions
 * Ability to foster and maintain strong interpersonal relationships both internally and externally
 * The Senior Fund Accountant for Private Capital requires an individual with a strong technical background in Fund Administration incorporating all aspects of valuation of Private Capital assets, unit pricing, tax, accounting and reporting
 * Previous experience working in similar functions, especially within GP Services is preferred (Alternative Investment Fund Manager, GP, Asset Servicing Company BO)

 The candidate needs to understand the role which Investment Administration plays within the broader organisation and thereby understand the bigger picture of impacts and influences Investment Administration have with its stakeholders.
