The Global Markets business of BNP Paribas helps its corporate and institutional clients leverage capital markets across the globe for their financing, risk management and investment needs. This encompasses a wide range of financial products ranging from Foreign exchange to complex Equity Derivatives that are traded in financial markets across the globe 24/7. IT systems are integral to the business and are a key part of the value proposition to clients. These IT systems range from industry standard products for standard process automation to internally developed, often, market leading IT applications. The IT teams owning these IT systems are made up of functions that include Technical and Application production support, Business Analysis & Project Management, Development & Maintenance and Quality Control. BNP Paribas India Solutions is an equal partner in these IT functions along with colleagues in other locations including Paris, London, New York, Tokyo, Singapore & Hong Kong. This partnership ranges from sharing the IT work load, executing global strategy to owning global applications offshore. The technology and engineering landscape is wide, encompassing almost all techniques and platforms. It continues to evolve and transform with the market with the business continuing to invest in it.

Position Purpose:

The role will report to the SDA Lead and will be primarily responsible for leading the migration and modernization of legacy Scala-based tools and workflows to Python and Oracle SQL as part of the COMPASS 2.0 and NEXT application roadmap (2026-2027). The position involves:

• Architecting and developing scalable, high-performance data solutions in Python and Oracle SQL.
• Redesigning legacy systems to improve efficiency, maintainability, and alignment with business needs.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams (MO, CC Governance, Sales) to ensure data integrity and business alignment.
• Mentoring mid-level developers and contributing to BAU (Business as Usual) operations while driving innovation.

The position requires working in collaborated environment and involves coordination with other locations of BNP Paribas. The candidate should have strong technical leadership, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities

• Understand business requirements and propose technical solutions to implement them.
• Propose and design architecture and data flows for new applications, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and the broader data architecture.
• Develop and implement components of the application architecture/flow as needed.
• Collect, transform, and analyze data from multiple sources to calculate client contribution metrics for revenue analysis.
• Automate recurring tasks and implement tools to streamline application support and evolution.
• Enhance application architecture to improve service quality for business users.
• Prioritize and manage workload effectively, balancing urgent matters with long-term project goals.
• Analyze and solve technical problems proactively, suggesting and implementing solutions.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business needs.

• Prioritize tasks while maintaining a balance of technical and functional expertise.
• Contribute to agile teamwork, fostering collaboration and iterative development.

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

• SQL & Database Optimization: Expertise in Oracle/T-SQL, PL/SQL, query tuning, indexing, and partitioning.
• Python & Data Libraries: Strong hands-on experience with Pandas, NumPy, and ETL processes.
• Data Analysis & Mining: Ability to extract insights and manage data flows from source to destination.
• Nice-to-Have: DWH, AI/Agentic tools, Tableau/Power BI, ELK Stack, ML libraries, and statistical modeling.

Specific Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience along with Bachelor's Degree - in engineering in computer science.

• Autonomous, rigorous, collaborative mindset, good management of stress.

Skills Referential (Required knowledge, skills and abilities)

Technical Skills:

·       Oracle /T-SQL & PLSQL - Very Good understanding on Relational databases and should be able to use SQL efficiently. Candidate having knowledge on optimization of stored procedures, queries, indexes, partitionining etc is prefrerred

• Extensive hands-on Python and data related libraries (Numpy and pandas)
• Data mining, analysis and basic understanding on ETL process.

Nice to have Technical skills :

• DWH
• AI Agentic experience
• Reporting Tools such as TABLEAU and POWERBI
• ELK Stack
• ML Libraries
• Statistical/Machine Learning Modelling
